Nothing pairs better with homemade hummus than fresh-baked pita!

Our Day Programmers, supported by our incredible staff, recently stepped into the roles of sous chefs to whip up a delicious snack. Led by our Executive Chef and Director of Volunteers and Special Programs, Leah, everyone got hands-on in the kitchen!

From taking turns at the food processor to blend the perfect hummus, to crafting doughy discs for the pita and chopping fresh veggies, it was a true team effort. The results? A super fresh and tasty treat to share with friends!

We’ve got the beat! 🥁

During a recent music therapy session, community members from our Valley and City Day Programs came together to get their grooves on! The room was alive with energy as everyone took turns following the teacher’s lead, using both hands and drumsticks to bang out the beats on the bongos.

It was wonderful to watch the group share instruments and collaborate to keep the drum circle moving. Great playing, everyone!

During a recent Jewish Life class with our Group Home and Day Program students, we shared a beautiful lesson on the importance of treating one another with respect and compassion.

To bring this concept to life, we created a symbolic “kindness potion” that was sprinkled on each other, representing our commitment to increasing kindness in everything we do.

The heart of the session was an interactive activity where we gathered in a circle to share words of appreciation. As we passed a roll of yarn to each peer and staff member, we created a physical web connecting the entire group—a moving demonstration of our theme: “Kindness holds us together.”

To end the day, students painted sweet quotes to display in their rooms as ongoing reminders of practicing kindness.

In celebration of Shavuot, our community came together in multiple ways to explore the significance of receiving the Torah at Mount Sinai. We loved learning about the tradition of Mount Sinai blooming with lush greenery and vibrant flowers to welcome the Torah.

During our Shavuot Jewish Life Class, our artists got creative and crafted stunning tape-resistant flower artwork, depicting the floral landscape of the mountain. 🎨🏔️

We also discussed the tradition of enjoying dairy during the holiday—a beautiful reminder of how fulfilling and nourishing Torah study is, just like milk. 🥛 To celebrate, everyone whipped up their own individual, no-bake cheesecakes! 🍰

Meanwhile, our City and Valley Day Program gathered Valley Beth Shalom Synagogue to create their own beautiful mini bouquets out of stunning fabric flowers. Along with the bouquets, everyone wrote a special note about something they learned from the Torah and attached it to their arrangement. Afterwards, we enjoyed live music and songs performed by Cantor Mike Stein. It was a day filled with meaning, learning, and inspiration! ✨🌸

Wishing everyone a joyful Shavuot!
