Hope For Cats, Inc.

Hope For Cats, Inc. HFC is a nonprofit 501c3, volunteer-run organization which runs Jake's Place, a cat shelter serving the the Buffalo, NY and it's surrounding suburbs.

Our mission is to rescue, shelter & socialize cats in a home-like environment until they can be adopted. We receive no federal or state fund for support and are solely dependent upon fundraising events, adoption fees, foundation grants and private donations to support Jake's Place, a limited-admission, no-kill, cage-free cat shelter and adoption center. Each cat remains in our care, either at Ja

ke's Place or in a foster home until being placed into their forever home. All of our cats are spayed or neutered and receive their necessary vaccines. Every cat is given a thorough check-up each day to identify any potential health problems. Jake's Place has a daily schedule of feeders, cleaners, and health checkers who see to the needs of the cats and keep them clean, healthy and happy in a loving, home-like environment. Our goal is to find a loving home for every cat we rescue.

Meet Bunny…🩶

Bunny’s story is one of quiet resilience. Once out on her own, navigating the uncertainty of life without a home, she’s now safe—but still learning what that safety means. The transition from the streets to the shelter has been overwhelming for her, and right now, the world feels like a scary place.

Bunny may seem a little unpredictable at first. She startles easily and isn’t quite sure who to trust yet—both people and other cats make her nervous. But beneath that fear is the same sweet girl her caretaker once knew… a gentle soul who just needs time, patience, and understanding to feel secure again.

The photo of Bunny and her shadow feels fitting—she’s still finding her light, still learning she doesn’t have to face everything alone.

Bunny is looking for a calm, quiet home with someone who will move at her pace and let her come out of her shell on her own terms. With love and consistency, we believe she’ll rediscover her confidence and show her true, affectionate self.

If you have a soft spot for the shy ones and a heart big enough to give Bunny the time she deserves, she just might be your perfect match. 🩶

Mischief, Milo, and Sinister are 2-year-old brothers who recently lost their home through no fault of their own. These sweet boys love attention, thrive on affection, and are happiest when they’re together.

We’ve had wonderful success adopting out bonded pairs, and this is our first attempt to find a forever home for a bonded trio. It’s a big ask—but truly the best thing for these three inseparable brothers. Keeping them together means preserving the comfort, confidence, and love they give one another every day.

If you have room in your heart and home for triple the love, Mischief, Milo, and Sinister are ready to fill it. 🐾💙

This pretty, tiny, affectionate DSH calico is Cora… isn’t she gorgeous? Just look at those whiskers! 🧡🤍🖤

This former East Side of Buffalo stray had a rough start and needed a full-mouth tooth extraction several months ago due to stomatitis. But don’t worry— it hasn’t changed her sweet, loving nature one bit… or her enthusiasm for chowing down!

Cora is all heart, all charm, and ready to win someone over with her gentle affection.😻

Meet Mom Venus, a brave little survivor found abandoned near Dunkirk. Just one day after she was rescued, on June 29, she gave birth to a beautiful litter of kittens.

From left to right: Earhart, Mitty, Little Bit, Skipper, and Toebias. Toebias is the only male, and all of them are polydactyl—except little Skippy, who keeps things classic with the usual number of toes.😻

Everyone is now spayed/neutered except Little Bit, who is scheduled for surgery on December 4.

This sweet family has come a long way from where their story began, and now they’re ready for their forever homes and all the love they deserve.😻

In August of 2024, a very endearing 13-year-old named Kitty Kitty came to HFC. A sweet talker and an instant favorite among our volunteers, she wasn’t fond of most other cats—but she did graciously share her space with two laid-back ladies, Momma and Rosie.

Recently, one of our volunteers discovered a lump, which testing at Michigan State University confirmed was malignant. As her health declined and her body grew weaker, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye this week.

Kitty Kitty touched many hearts during her time with us, and she will be deeply missed. 🖤
