Each Memorial Day, our seniors with AARP proudly install flags at the Alice T. Cone Memorial Triangle on Mount Avenue in honor of our fallen heroes. 🇺🇸

The legacy of Memorial Day dates back to 1865, when formerly enslaved African Americans in Charleston, South Carolina held one of the nation’s first ceremonies to honor Union soldiers who gave their lives for freedom and unity.

We thank our seniors for carrying forward this sacred tradition of remembrance, patriotism, and community pride.

Have a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend. 🙏🏾🇺🇸
