Today we started a Reading for Education program to help our school raise money. A lanyard explaining how the program works will be sent home with your student.
Parents, please read over the information describing how you can participate. Your student will earn a participation prize when they return the filled-out lanyard to school, and they can earn more great prizes when your family and friends help our school raise money. So don't forget to send the filled-out lanyard back to school, and thanks for your support.

❤️🖤 Wildcat Shoutout! ❤️🖤
We are so thankful for our head custodian, Ms. Rachel, who came out over the weekend to clean up our playground. She wanted to make sure our playground was safe, clean, and ready for our students when they returned on Monday—and she went above and beyond to make that happen! 🛝✨
We also appreciate Mr. George from the county, who was here first thing Monday morning, ready to lend a hand with the cleanup and repair a piece of our playground equipment.
We are so fortunate to have people who care so much about our students and our school! Thank you, Ms. Rachel and Mr. George, for always helping keep our Wildcats safe! 🐾❤️🖤

🚨 Important Community Reminder 🚨

Over the last few weeks, we have had middle and high school students hanging out on our playground after school hours. Unfortunately, instead of being good stewards of our school property, some individuals have caused significant damage and left behind dangerous conditions.

We have had highly offensive and inappropriate graffiti written on our picnic tables—things that young children should not be exposed to. Portions of our picnic tables and playground equipment have been burned, a trash can was set on fire, and the latest incident involved broken glass being shattered and scattered throughout the playground grounds.

This creates a serious safety concern for our students as they return to school on Monday. If we are unable to safely clean and secure the playground, we may have no choice but to temporarily close it.

We will be reviewing security footage. In the meantime, if you see something, please say something. If you witness suspicious activity on school property or know who may be responsible, please contact us. You can send the school a Facebook message, email Mrs. Garrett, or contact the Nitro Police Department.

Our school and playground are here for the enjoyment of our students and community. Please help us protect and take care of this space. Vandalism and dangerous behavior will not be tolerated.

Parents, please take a few minutes this weekend to check your child's school iPad and make sure it is fully updated. Many of the technology issues students experience can be resolved simply by installing the latest iPadOS update.

Please follow the steps in the flyer to check for and complete any available updates before Monday morning.

We are excited to celebrate our students and their outstanding achievements on the WVGSA that they took in May! Students who demonstrated mastery or above in ELA and/or Math will be recognized during halftime of the Nitro High School football game vs. Hoover.

Our students worked incredibly hard, and we are so proud of their accomplishments! We would love for our families to come out and help us celebrate and show our students how much we support their success!

🎟️ On Monday, students who are being recognized will receive a special invitation that will also serve as their ticket for admission to the game for the student AND one adult.

We hope to see you there cheering on our Wildcats and celebrating our students! 🐾❤️🖤

🚗 Morning Drop-Off Reminder, Wildcat Families! 🐾

With a significant number of students being dropped off each morning, we need your help to keep our drop-off line moving quickly and safely. Before pulling up to the drop-off area, please make sure your child is unbuckled, has their belongings ready, and is prepared to exit the vehicle promptly.

If your child struggles to get out of the car independently or needs additional assistance, please pull all the way forward and over to the curb so we can keep traffic moving and allow other cars to safely pass.

This will help ensure students have enough time to enjoy breakfast and get settled before instruction begins promptly at 7:20 a.m.
