Newtown Forest Association, Inc.(NFA) is the oldest private land trust in Connecticut. It is a 501(c)3 tax exempt
not-for-profit organization dedicated to accumulating and preserving open space and resources for public enjoyment
within the Town of Newtown, Connecticut. The Forest Association is managed by an all volunteer Board of Directors that are residents of Newtown and are not
subject to the

changes in the political structure; accordingly, we can maintain our mission generation after generation. NFA operates completely independent of the Town of Newtown and we receive no funding from the town's taxpayers. The NFA is dependent upon funds it receives from its generous donors and membership dues. NFA now owns approximately 1,000 acres that are preserved as open space for perpetuity. Some of our properties have been donated to us with conditions that designate them as wildlife sanctuaries, bird havens
or just natural, undisturbed forest. No matter what type of land, wet, dry, meadow or forest, it is held for all time as open
space for the benefit of the Newtown community and all nature lovers.

Calling all volunteers! We'll be at Nettleton Preserve this Saturday prepping the site for a summer-long art on the trails installation. We have ten artists whose works will be on display all summer, and this outing will be to prep the spaces along the trail for the installation. This is a unique one! Anyone interested please rsvp to [email protected]

The Newtown Forest Association pauses to remember and honor the brave men and women who have served our beautiful country.

The peaceful woods, open spaces, and freedoms we cherish were preserved through their courage and dedication. May this weekend be a time for reflection, gratitude, and appreciation for those who gave everything for our nation.

We wish our community a safe and meaningful Memorial Day surrounded by the natural beauty that makes Newtown so special. ❤️🤍💙

It is with heavy hearts that we pass along the news of the death of our NFA Caretaker and Stewardship Manager, Andy Bryant. For the last two years Andy and his family have been residents at Holcombe Hill, where he tended to our many beloved preserves across Newtown.

Anyone who knew Andy knows he had a bright smile and wore his heart on his sleeve. We will miss seeing him out on the trails or riding the tractor around Holcombe Hill. Information about a celebration of life for Andy can be found in the link.

Malcolm Andrew Bryant (Andy), 61, of Newtown, passed away April 27, 2026. Andy was born in Bridgeport on November 7, 1964, to Malcolm Earl Bryant and Adella Ohradan Bryant. He grew up in Easton, gradu...
