"Experience The Magic of Jasper County HCE" was the theme for the 81st annual banquet and meeting at the University of Illinois Extension Office/Center in Newton, Illinois. Audrey Elliott was the winner of the 2026 HCE Scholarship of $500.00! Ashley Davis, IAHCE Assistant District 3 Director (assistant to Donna Richards, District 3 Director) installed the 2026-2027 HCE Officers. Connie Elliott gave a magical presentation all about HCE throughout the years from 1945--2026! Tammy Colesby won the free membership for 2026. RADA attendance prizes were given, and everyone enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Hartrich Meats & Catering of Sainte Marie, Illinois. We thanked Taylor Kerner for his vision of transforming the former Marshall Bros. Furniture building into the beautiful U OF I Extension Office/Center! All in attendance went home with a magic wand and encouraged to create their own magic!

THANKS to everyone that participated in the Show Me Dough fundraiser selling Butter Braids, Cookie Dough, and Pizzas. 169 items were sold giving Jasper County HCE a profit of $1,429.50 to be used for Books For Beginners, Toys For Kids, the Scholarship Fund, and 4-H. It all goes back to enhance the lives of our Jasper County youth!!!!!

Five members of Jasper County HCE attended the 102th IAHCE Conference in Effingham, Illinois, on March 17--19, 2025. Judy Millsap, Martha Allison, MargeThompson, Ann Harding, and Marlene Harris participated in the 3-day conference with over 280 ladies and gentleman from all over Illinois. The theme for this year's gathering was "Experience the Magic of IAHCE!" It was 3 days of sharing ideas, learning new concepts, and visiting with ladies from all over the state of Illinois!!

Thanks to everyone that attended the HCE Plus...Cinnamon Rolls...on Tuesday, March 3, conducted by Marge Thompson in the new University of Illinois Extension Office & Center, Newton, Illinois. Thirty-two people learned about Marge's tips and tricks and also enjoyed her delicious cinnamon rolls. The event was sponsored by Jasper County HCE (Home & Community Education).

Butter Braid flavors are Apple, Strawberry Cream Cheese, Blueberry Cream Cheese, Cherry, Cinnamon, Cream Cheese and Four Cheese & Herb...$19. Cookie Dough flavors are Triple Chocolate, White Chunk Macadamia Nut, Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, and Snickerdoodle (makes 40 cookies)....$21 each. Pizzas (2-pack) choices are Four Cheese, Ultimate Pepperoni, Meat Lovers, Supreme, and BBQ Chicken...$25. Last day to order is Monday, March 16. HCE SCHOLARSHIP TIME!!
JASPER COUNTY HCE is accepting applications for their annual $500 Scholarship to be awarded to an NCHS senior based on highest GPA. Students with a mother as an HCE member will receive first consideration. In the event no applicant meets this criteria, applicants with a grandmother as an HCE member will be considered for this award. Applications are available at the NCHS Guidance Office or the U of I Extension Office, 8775 N State Hwy 130, Newton, IL. Application deadline is April 9, 2026. The winner will be announced at the Jasper County HCE Annual Meeting on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the U of I Extension Office in Newton, Illinois. The $500 award will be presented at the NCHS Awards Event in May.
