Today the NAACP honors the legacy of our ancestors not through reflection but through action. This day we recognize the freeing of all slaves in America! Someone paid the price for you to be free, someone gave their blood, many lost their lives and made unwavering sacrifices.
As we celebrate Juneteenth today, we say thank you to our ancestors! We will pass it on and remind our future generations of this important day. The lord allowed us to make it and it is marvelous in our eyes!

Junteenth reminds us of the strength, resilience, and determination of those who came before us and the responsibility we share to continue fighting for a more just future. Today, we are organizing across the South to defend voting rights and fair representation because freedom is never free! 🚨Newport News Public Schools is providing free meals all summer!

Free meals are provided to all children and teens on a first come, first serve basis at locations throughout Newport News on the days and times listed. All meals must be consumed on site. All sites will be closed on June 19 and July 3, 2026.
