FREE MICROCHIP CLINIC TODAY!!!

STAHR Short Term After Hours Rescue is running a FREE pop-up microchip clinic 10 to 1 today at the SpokAnimal Event Center 715 N Crestline.

As you know there were many, MANY lost animals in the fire. The animals who did not have a microchip made it harder for their families to find them, if they found them at all. A registered microchip is a simple step that gives lost pets a better chance of being identified and safely reunited with their families. ❤️ today's clinic is open to dogs and cats and it's no cost

Donations are not required, but are appreciated to help STAHR continue hosting similar events in the future. *Please be prepared to wait a while if it gets busy..

Good morning everyone!

I've been down at the convention center helping SpokAnimal the 1st 3 days of this crisis and Shadle Park HS fire victim staging center the last 4 days. Each day we get loads of food and other items from Spokanimal to replenish what we are giving out.

Yesterday was unbelievably busy with people in need. We went through literally everything we had. We will be getting more donations this morning from Spokanimal and be set up at 9:00 a.m. but Spokanimal is now out of some items specifically:

SMALL BREED
ADULT DOG
SENIOR CAT
SENIOR DOG.

We could also use PET SAFE WIPES and beds from small through extra large..

Thank you guys! We appreciate you more than you know as well as all the victims who are frantically trying to take care of their animals.

Hello everyone! Okay I wanted to do an update on Bella the dog that was rescued from the fire in the apartment building..

Bella is now home with her family she was released yesterday from Pet Emergency Clinic. With you're help we were able to raise $1080 to help Bella's family with their bill!

From Toni Choiniere Bellas Grandmother:
Hey all! I want to let you know how Bella is doing! Since she got home, she's obviously still coughing and gets tired very easily. Shes a trooper about taking her medicine too. The kids missed her so much and she's soaking up all the attention! I am so grateful and thankful to everyone who donated everything, the monetary donations for the vet bill, the dog food, dog bed, harness...everything! Im really grateful to be a part of this community and I cant thank you all enough! Im working on a new pic of her for you guys too."

Thank you to everyone who donated as well as asked about Bella's well-being. Can't tell you how much I appreciate your help.

UPDATE: these 2 wonderful dogs still need a Foster home. Their mom is going through cancer treatment and desperately needs to keep them safe. We got them temporary fostering at spokanimal but they are down in a kennel in a very stressful environment they can only stay there for a couple more weeks. If you have room in your home in your heart to help take care of these animals so that they can go back to their mom when she's done with her cancer treatment? Please private message me or Bre Rodgers ..

UPDATE: Okay guys these 2 beautiful dogs still need a long-term Foster, 8 b to 9 months.. this is a foster situation only if you are a responsible person with animals have a safe area fully fenced so dogs cannot get out please contact myself or Bre.. she only has a few days to tie this together before she has to go to treatment. Thank you.. ♥️

Okay my animal loving friends I have a situation I need help with.. you know me I'm always harping on people to keep their animals in their home with help if needed rather than give them away. Can you help these two beautiful dogs and their mom?

This is Meka and Wendy.. their mom is going through cancer treatment and they need a foster desperately. They are really good with kids, dogs but haven’t been around cats and not good with chickens. Housebroken, crate trained, spayed. They are good bois and excellent dogs.

Their mom said that she might be able to provide food, but she is dealing with a lot of medical bills and unable to work so might be tight. This Foster should be until approximately April at the latest.

If you can help please contact Bre.. Thank you guys..

UPDATE 11:15 7/29/26: Bella is getting released today yay!! Could I have anyone who donated directly to the vet please private message me and let me know how much so that I can make sure that was applied to the bill? Thank you guys I will do an update on Bella later today or tomorrow with pictures.

UPDATE 10:00 pm 7/28/26:
From Toni: "Hi there! I just got word Bella will be at PEC for another night. She developed a cough and her trachea is affected. The Dr was optimistic about going home tomorrow. Fingers crossed!"
Yay!!

Bella is getting better and hopefully will be going home with her mom and dad tomorrow. The Kitty hurt at Pet Emergency and Hunter her bill was paid by the grandmother so I will be applying what was donated (I will have a total tomorrow) in both posts and thru our website to Bella. A bag of food Bella eats as well as a new bed is being donated as well. I will follow up and make sure they have everything they need for Bella for the next several months.. ❤️🐾🐕

UPDATE: I was first contacted by my friend Toni whose son and daughter-in-law were involved in the fire they are Bella's mom and dad. I had initially offered to get them some food if needed then found out their dog what should really hurt. Here's some information from Toni about some of their needs for Bella: "Bella eats Kirkland brand dog food maroon bag "healthy diet". If anyone has an extra pet bed or harness shes an xlarge." If anyone has any of these items or can get the Kirkland brand dog food? Please contact Toni or let me know when I can get them to her".. Tia ❤️

This is Bella.. Bella is 8. Shes a gentle giant, has been great with her family's kids, and sadly lost her best friend (the cat who was barely a year old named Vessell in the fire. They found her under a bed that had melted on top of her 😭). When they were trying to get Bella from the fire, she was terrified and wouldn't go. Finally after numerous attempts, they were able to get her out. They think she was trying to help and didn't want to leave her best friend Vessel.. 💔

Bella had smoke inhalation, her nose, ears and throat were burnt as well as her corneas. She was also dehydrated and very week. She had xrays, oxygen, pain meds, and rehydration fluids. Shes been there for 3 days. The family put $2800 down for the deposit. They said adding up the 3 different estimates the cost is going to be between $8000 -$9000.

What I always ask and what I encourage is calling "directly to the vet" to make a donation. Bella is at the PET EMERGENCY CLINIC on Misson in Spokane 509-326-6670 under Toni Choiniere and Joe Choiniere.

I have been talking with my friend Halle who let them know donations being called in. I will also attach a fundraiser to this post. I will continue the fundraiser on the post below because we have at least one other animal right now (a kitty) we know of that's in Pet Emergency as well as Hunter Veterinary Clinic getting help. We want to make sure that kitty and others who might need Veterinary help get donations. I will post those updates as I know more about that kitty and any other animals that were hurt.

You can also donate through our website there should be a spot for a note that you can put for Bella Apt fire dog or just Department fire animals in general if that's what you want to do.

Thank you to everyone who is posting and offering to help these animals. I can't tell you how that touches my heart and I know the families as well are grateful..

UPDATE 10:50am 7/28/26:
Okay guys I have some information on some animals that need help. We have one dog (I know of) at pet emergency. Her name is Bella I will be posting a separate donation page for her because her cost right now are estimated to be between $8,000 and $9,000. So read the post above for information which will include the number to Pet emergency to call directly to donate. I will also post that estimate send some pictures. This page and donation site will be left open because we have a kitty we need to help as well and I'm going to focus on her here. Also a place for people to offer to donate I still need information on other animals or people with animals that need help from the fire if anyone can get me that information? I will get them food and supplies as needed
*************************************************
UPDATE 7:30 am Tues 7/28/26: I have 2 animals I have been in contact with veterinarians or their family or friends in the last couple hours that we are going to help. I will attach a fundraiser to this post for donations but also I will let everyone know where they can call in a donation directly to the veterinarian once I get more information.. so hang tight and I will get information as I know more. Thank you guys..

UPDATE 5:30 am Tues 7/28/26: Letting everyone know I still am getting information but very sparsely. I have supplies such as food, beds, leashes as well as offers for foster help for these animals but have not had a lot of contact with those affected. There is one dog right now at pet emergency that we are going to get food to as soon as he's released and I'm getting some information on so PNWAWP as well as others can call in donations to help with the bill.. it's going to be very very expensive.

There's another cat at Hunter getting treatment, but from what they told me at the clinic they don't think they need help financially? I am going to keep looking into that and let everyone know what I find out.

*** If you know of anyone in this fire whose animals were affected, whether they need fosters, pet Food or vet care help PLEASE let me know so I can get the help and items we have to them. Dori Peck Halle Shepherd

Sunday 7/26/26:

Good morning guys.. my heart is extremely heavy this morning as I'm sure yours is.. as you know there was a horrible fire yesterday in the valley that unfortunately killed a lot of family pets that couldn't get out. We have individuals we have helped their animals with food and vet care who live in those apartments. I literally was up all night thinking about what happened and crying for these animals who couldn't get out and save themselves. 😪

Fortunately there were family best friends that did make it out, but now they and their families are displaced, as well as possibly needing food and vet care. If you were one of those individuals or you know someone who needs help with food or vet Care for their animals who were hurt or needing foster while you find somewhere to live? We are just a very small non-profit with limited funding and do what we can, but these people need help. We will do what we can..

Thank you guys and thank good thoughts for these animals that did survive.. 🐾🐕🐈🐦

Hey guys I have an update on Buster the kitty chewing off his fur at the base of his tail, on his tail and losing tremendous weight. Buster ended up being hyperthyroid .. we caught it hopefully in time.. his dad told me "Buster seems to be feeling better!" I know he's happy... I know Buster feels better... and I am ecstatic we could help! That's what it's all about my friends.. helping each other when we need and then paying it forward when we can. ♥️

Thank you to everyone who donates so we are able to help these animals who need us..
