Licensing your pet matters!

Did you know you have to license your dogs and cats that live in Spokane County?

Spokane County requires all dogs and cats 6 months of age and older, who reside in our county to have a yearly license registering them to owner.

What does this do?

All licensing fees go to supporting our local animal control facility and enforcement officers protecting animals.

What do I get?

First and foremost, it is the law. You should comply or it may result in a ticket (Oh no!). It also extends the legal holds in the event your animal is found at large.

How do I get my pet's licensed?

You can get a license from the SCRAPS website, mail, phone, or by coming and processing them in our facility.

🐾 Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

Today, we’re celebrating all the dogs who fill our lives with love, laughter, slobbery kisses, and a little bit of chaos. ❤️🐶

At SCRAPS, we’re lucky to meet so many incredible dogs—each with their own personality, story, and plenty of love to give. From the goofy and energetic to the sweet and snuggly, every dog deserves to be celebrated today…and every day! If you’ve been thinking about adding a four-legged family member to your life, there’s no better day to come meet your new best friend. 🐕❤️

Meet Winnie (68015) 🐾 He has some food allergies but is a happy healthy 2ish year old boxer mix. Winnie seems dog neutral in the shelter but will require a meet and greet with resident dogs. The shelter does not have capacity to test with cats. Winnie just loves to play fetch and tug, appreciates a good bum scratch and has the cutest boxer wiggle!

Meet Una! This special girl is available for adoption at SCRAPS and ready to find her forever home! 💕🐶

Say Hello to Una — Your New Goofy Best Friend! 🐶💛🐾

Meet Una, a beautiful young pup who came to SCRAPS on August 9th from Medical Lake. From the moment she arrived, she’s been sweet, playful, goofy, and wonderfully silly; the kind of pup who brightens everyone’s day. Staff say she’s very playful, but typically not rough, which just makes her even more lovable.

When Una arrived, her left eye was severely swollen. After a careful veterinary exam, it was clear that removing the eye was the best choice for her long‑term health. Thanks to the SCRAPS Hope Foundation, which provided the funds for her surgery, Una received the care she needed, including being spayed.

She is still recovering, but our medical team says she’s ready to find her forever home.

Una may have just one eye, but she has endless love, silliness, and joy to share. She’s ready to start her next chapter with a family who sees how special she truly is.

If you'd like to meet Una, SCRAPS is open for adoptions Monday–Saturday from noon to 5pm. You’ll also meet many other dogs and cats hoping for their chance at a loving home.

Reunited!!!!
SCRAPS is thrilled to share that one of the dogs displaced from the recent fires has just been reclaimed by her owner! Fancy was just reunited with her owner and is on her way back home. SCRAPS still has 5 more dogs, 5 cats, and a litter of puppies and kittens that from here from the fires. If you are missing your dog/cat please come to SCRAPS to see if they are here. We are open for reclaim Mon-Sat 10am-5pm and Sunday by appointment.

🐾 SCRAPS NEEDS SMALL CAT CARRIERS! 🐾

Our amazing rescue partners and shelters literally all over the country have been helping SCRAPS make a large number of animal transfers as we prepare to welcome a large intake of animals impacted by the fires. ❤️

Because of all of this incredible work, we are now very low on small, cat-sized hard-sided carriers (just like the one in the picture below). If you have a carrier you no longer need, we would be so grateful for your donation. If you’re out shopping, these carriers can often be found inexpensively at local thrift stores. You can also donate funds toward purchasing carriers if you’d prefer. Every little bit helps us be prepared to safely transport the animals who need us.

A HUGE thank you to all of the rescue partners and shelters who have opened their doors and helped us transfer animals out. We truly could not do this without your support! 🥹❤️
