🎉 A Weekend Worth Celebrating 🎉

This week , 100 Black Men of Greater Florida – Gainesville (GNV) came together in NYC to celebrate something powerful: 40 years of the success of our mentoring and workforce development programs, and the brotherhood of men committed to lifting up our community.

Huge thanks and recognition to Past Presidents Jamar Hebert, Ray McNight, and Treasurer Lloyd Alford whose leadership laid the foundation we continue to build on, and to current President Matt Bowman, who is carrying that vision forward with energy and purpose. Their partnership reminds us that progress is a relay, not a sprint — each generation of leadership passing the baton to keep moving forward.

The timing of this celebration made it even more meaningful. Falling on Father’s Day weekend and Juneteenth, this gathering sat at an intersection that is more than historic — it’s a reminder of what’s possible when fatherhood, freedom, and fellowship show up in the same room. Men mentoring men. Men investing in the next generation’s careers and character. Men working together to make this country the best it can be.
To every mentor, mentee, and supporter who showed up — thank you for proving that when Black men lead with purpose, entire communities rise.

Here’s to the next chapter. 🤝

📣 EACH ONE, REACH ONE 📣
Brothers — this is a call to action.
I’m Past President Ray McKnight of the 100 Black Men of Greater Florida GNV, and I need every man or woman reading this to do one thing today: reach ONE brother and make sure he’s ready to vote.
One conversation. One phone call. One text. That’s how we move mountains.
🗳️ But first — know the rules. Voting laws have changed, and we cannot afford to show up uninformed. Before you go to the polls:
✅ Visit vote.org to check your registration, find your polling place, and learn your state’s voting requirements.
✅ Contact your local Supervisor of Elections office for the most up-to-date information in YOUR county.
Our vote is our voice. Our voice is our power. And our power grows when we bring each other along.
Don’t just vote — bring somebody with you.

✊🏾 REAL MENTORING DOESN’T CLOCK OUT. ✊🏾
Anybody can show up when it’s easy. But TRUE mentoring? That happens when it’s INCONVENIENT. When you’re tired. When your schedule is full. When nobody is watching. That’s when it counts the most. 💪🏾
Mentoring isn’t just inside the walls of a school or a conference room. It’s in the grocery store. It’s on the sideline. It’s in the car ride home. It’s in the phone call you didn’t have to make but made anyway. It’s in the REAL WORLD — where our young people actually live.
Because here’s the truth — our young men don’t just need us when it’s scheduled. They need us when life gets messy. When the odds are stacked. When nobody else shows up. THAT is where mentors change lives. 🌟
What they SEE — they can BE. 👀
If they see a man who keeps his word, they learn integrity.
If they see a man who shows up consistently, they learn commitment.
If they see a man who pours into others, they learn generosity.
We are not just mentors. We are MIRRORS. And what we reflect back to these young men shapes who they become.
So to every mentor out there doing the work — in AND out of the classroom, convenient AND inconvenient — THANK YOU. You are changing lives, even when you don’t see it yet. 🙏🏾
Keep showing up. They are watching. 👊🏾

We are so proud to celebrate our 20 young men at Lincoln Middle School! 🌟
Through the 100 Black Men of America — Greater Florida Gainesville chapter — our “What They Can Be” mentoring program has worked hard this year to prepare these young men to be successful in life, supporting them both INSIDE and OUTSIDE of the classroom.
To our scholars — you are seen, you are valued, and your future is BRIGHT. Keep pushing! 💪🏾
