Today we had the opportunity to fish together at Willow River State Park with VFW Post 10818 New Richmond / St. Croix County and roughly 70 participants throughout the day! We had such a great time teaching kids how to fish, watching the smile on people's faces as they reeled in fish made our day!

We were suppose to end at 1400 but we stayed an hour longer because people kept coming in! 🙌
We didn’t know how today would go but it ended up being a success.

Jayson with Cast WI did a great job planning the day.

We met families from other states and different parts of WI. We also met families that were new to the area and wanted to know some good fishing spots 🤫

We got a surprise visit from our friends at MTJ Promotions. Always great to see our partners come out and support our community!

June is Post Traumatic Stress Awareness Month (PTSD). We at Cast didn't forget, we just want to acknowledge that for us, PTSD is an everyday opportunity for awareness!

Triggers can come out of nowhere, when we least expect them.
Times of the year can trigger memories.
The most important thing we want to stress is when they arise, YOU ARE NOT ALONE ANYMORE!
Its likely you experienced your trauma alone and feel like no one could understand and I promise we can!
Tomorrow we will be at Willow River State Park in Hudson WI to teach kids how to fish. If you need support or just want to connect, join us near the dam! We have veterans and first responders available to chat and spend the day together and fish! We will be there from 8am-2pm!

Learn to Fish with Cast

June 6th, 2026
0800-1400
Willow River State Park in Hudson, WI

Cast will be at Willow River State Park by the Dam to teach you and your family how to fish.

This event is catered to the youth but anyone is more than welcome to join us and learn.

We will teach you about the different types of reels, bobbers, rods and hooks.

We will have back yard bass for the kiddos to learn how to cast and reel without having to worry about hooks being casted.

Once comfortable, we will get you some bait and a hook and send you off shoreline fishing with one of our volunteers.

This is open to the public.

This is a free admission day at the state park and a free fishing day through the DNR. That’s right, no admission or fishing license required.

We will have some fishing poles available to use but they must be returned. Feel free to bring your own pole and we will help you get it set up!

More information to come this week!

There are a lot of post on Memorial Day stating, “enjoy the long weekend and enjoy the BBQ.” No matter how you interpret it, it’s true. Enjoy the long weekend, enjoy your freedom, enjoy your family and enjoy the BBQ. That’s what those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for us would want. They fought and died for you, for our freedom, for our country. Just remember why we are able to enjoy time on the boat and why we are able to create memories with our families. It’s because they are no longer able to do the same.

To the men and women who died fighting for our beautiful country, we will never forget your sacrifices. To the Gold Star Families, we are here for you and pray for comfort and peace for the loss of your loved ones.

“Dear God,

As our nation pauses to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, we give thanks for these men and women, and their families. They sacrificed their lives fighting for our freedom, fighting for the freedom of others, and fighting for justice. They willingly went knowing they wouldn’t return the same.

God, we’re reminded of the example of your Son, Jesus, who willing sacrificed His life for all of humanity. He painted the picture of what love through sacrifice looks like. Few would be willing to lay down their life for a stranger, but these men and women went, making the ultimate sacrifice of love.

As we remember these brave men and women, we cannot forget those who loved them and served with them. Lord, be their peace on this day. Soothe any anger or disillusionment over why their loved one was taken. Lift up their hearts. Be their source of comfort. Give them Your strength on this day and every single day going forward.

Lord, help us remember, not just on Memorial Day, but throughout the year, the sacrifice others have made. May it embolden us and challenge us to live a life of love, courage, and bravery.

Amen.”

What a wonderful day on the Rush River where multiple Veterans and 1st Responders spent time with their families and learned how to fly fish.

Larry with Vino in the Valley was gracious enough to host our event on his property for the second year in a row.

Tom, with the help of his son (also Tom), taught the Fly Fishing class for the second year. They did such a wonderful job and our anglers landed some beautiful trout. Tom is a K9 trainer with our friends at Soldiers 6. We are grateful for all of the work they do.

Our friends at Bass Pro Shops graciously donated fly rods, fly tackle, and hats for our Heroes to take home. This donation will provide them with a healthy outlet to help cope with their PTSD.

On Time Service Pros provided us with a donation this year which allowed us to serve food and beverages for our Heroes while on the river.

As always, thank you to our partners at MTJ Promotions for always helping Cast spread our mission. Your marketing expertise has been invaluable to our cause!

To all of the new people that joined us today, welcome to the Cast family.

To the men and women that have served and continue to serve our country and our communities, we thank you 🙏

To all of the service members that died for our country, we will never forget the sacrifices you’ve made for us. Your memory goes far beyond this memorial weekend. We will never forget 🫡
