Michaela plans to attend FranU (Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University) to pursue a degree in Nursing. She has earned an impressive $142,000 in scholarship awards, including a full-ride scholarship to FranU, showcasing her hard work, dedication, and academic excellence.

Looking ahead, Michaela envisions herself making a difference in the healthcare field as an Emergency Room (ER) Nurse, providing compassionate care to those in need.

CONGRATS Southern!!!! The Louisiana Board of Regents has approved a new Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering program at Southern University and A&M College. The new program marks the first chemical engineering program at an HBCU in Louisiana.

🌟 STEM Baton Rouge Fellow Spotlight: Jaylen Lewis 🌟

Congratulations to Jaylen Lewis, a proud student of Math Science Arts East Academy and member of the STEM Baton Rouge Fellows 2025-2026 Senior Class!

Jaylen plans to attend LSU and major in Physics. His proudest accomplishment is being named Student of the Year for Iberville Parish, a testament to his hard work, leadership, and dedication to academic excellence.

A recipient of the Margaret Benton Scholarship, Greater Baton Rouge Outstanding Volunteer Scholarship, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Scholarship, Westside Charter Interest Group Scholarship, and Jose Alvarez Memorial Arts Volunteer Scholarship, Jaylen has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to both scholarship and service.

Looking ahead, Jaylen hopes to serve as an Air Force pilot, or continue his education and enter the Air Force after graduating from college.

Calling all future engineers, scientists, and innovators! Join STEM Baton Rouge for an exciting hands-on STEM experience where K–12 students will explore the science of force and motion.

STEM Baton Rouge STEM Fellows students gathered at Juban’s Restaurant to celebrate the accomplishments of our graduating seniors. STEM Fellows Manager Ruqayyah Mustafa and Lawrence Jackson recognized each student for their hard work, dedication, and achievements throughout their academic journey.

At STEM Baton Rouge we actively work to strengthen the local STEM workforce pipeline by providing early and consistent hands-on training, community programs, and career readiness to K-12 students, driving measurable impact across each stage of the workforce development lifecycle.

Our STEM Fellows Program targets high schoolers in grades 9–12, and equips them with immersive technical training and mentorship to smooth their path into internships, apprenticeships, college and STEM fields.

We extend a special thank you to the parents and families whose encouragement, support, and commitment have helped guide these students every step of the way. Your dedication to introducing and supporting your students in the STEM Fellows program has played an important role in their success.
