STEM Gulf Coast The purpose of STEM Gulf Coast is to expose, inspire and engage the community in the opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)

STEM NOLA is a national leader in the design and delivery of STEM-based activities, programs and events to K-12 students, families and communities. Participants in STEM NOLA programs receive a unique interactive, hands-on learning experience that allows learners of all ages to deepen their knowledge in STEM studies, gain confidence in their abilities and chart a course for career opportunities in STEM fields. Our Programs | Through a network of school-time, out-of-school programs, community-based groups, parent organizations, businesses and STEM professional organizations, STEM NOLA leads the way to identify common measures for high-quality STEM programs.

🚨 Calling all college students and STEM professionals! 🚨

Help inspire the next generation of innovators at STEM Saturday: Physics of Sound, October 24, in Gulfport, MS!

We’re looking for volunteers to help bring hands-on STEM activities to hundreds of students and families in our community. Join us as we create an exciting day of learning, exploration, and discovery for future STEM leaders.

💵 Undergraduate college students who volunteer will receive a $50 digital stipend!

Join us for a FREE STEM Saturday: The Internet of Things – The Physics of Sound 🎶

Students will dive into hands-on activities exploring sound, vibrations, frequency, amplitude and bring it to life by building their own guitar or Bluetooth speaker. Learn how sound connects to IoT, sensors, and smart technology!

STEM NOLA’s commercial aired locally on during Monday Night Football as the New Orleans faced the Atlanta Falcons, bringing STEM NOLA | STEM Gulf Coast’s mission to a new audience and shining a light on the incredible impact of STEM education and the students who inspire our work every day.

Founder & CEO Calvin Mackie built STEM Gulf Coast on a vision of exposing, inspiring and engaging young people through hands-on STEM experiences. To see that vision reach a moment like this is a reminder of what’s possible when a mission continues to grow, a community believes in the work, and young people are given the opportunity to imagine what their futures can hold.

We’re proud of how far this journey has come, grateful to everyone who has helped make it possible, and inspired by all that lies ahead. Because when young people have access to opportunity, they can begin to see a future without limits.

Expanding access. Inspiring students. Building Louisiana’s STEM future. 🚀

As Founder & CEO of STEM NOLA and STEM Global Action, Dr. Calvin Mackie has made expanding access to hands-on STEM education a central part of his work.

Through STEM programming and community engagement, his vision continues to create opportunities for young people to explore STEM and see themselves as part of Louisiana’s future workforce.

That vision takes the TEDxNOLA stage on October 30, where Dr. Mackie will share his perspective on the importance of STEM education and the work underway to create greater opportunities for the next generation.

We made a big splash this weekend! 💧🏗️

What a STEM Saturday! 150+ K–12 students, parents, and volunteers got hands-on with hydraulics and fluid mechanics while designing and building their own hydraulic bridges and elevators.

Through testing different designs, students saw firsthand how force and pressure can be transmitted through liquids to lift and move objects—and how the same principles are used in real-world engineering. ⚙️

STEM Gulf Coast is diving into the world of fluid mechanics as K–12 students explore how force and pressure move through liquids to make things happen!

Today’s challenge? At the Gaston Point Recreation Center, students are designing and building their own hydraulic bridges and elevators, putting their engineering skills to the test and seeing hydraulic systems in action. 🏗️🔧
