Before the Eastern Lancaster County Library opens its doors, a group of people from Lighthouse Small Group Employment work together to clean the space. They vacuum, mop, dust library shelves, take out trash and clean the restrooms while their job coach Christina answers questions.

It’s not just a job, but a contribution. Upon arriving, each person eagerly starts on their own tasks, taking ownership of their work. Together, they helped prepare the library to welcome the community.

The job coach Christina answers questions, offers guidance, and even teaches new skills, such as how to properly knot garbage bags. When the work is finished, the group smiles with pride, knowing they had played a part in preparing the library for its opening.

We’re so grateful for our partnership with the Elanco Library. Thank you for giving people a chance to grow, learn, and contribute to their community!

Lighthouse is thrilled to announce our Annual Benefit Banquet on Thursday, September 24 at Shady Maple.

Join us for an inspirational evening. We begin with a silent auction and refreshments at 5:00 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:00 p.m. Enjoy a delicious meal prepared by Shady Maple, live music, an inspiring message from Matthew Toth, and a live auction.

While the event is free, all proceeds benefit the individuals at Lighthouse Vocational Services.

What do you get when you have a local flowers, colorful paint and a creative group of people? A masterpiece.

In Strengthening Pathways, choice is a big part of the creative process. For this project, people selected their favorite flowers, chose their favorite colors, and decided where they wanted their flowers to appear on the painting.

We love seeing the excitement and pride from the individuals. Todd proudly points to his contribution in the painting!

A special thank-you to staff member Lisa Paradis for coming up with this creative idea and providing the flowers and paints for the project. We love seeing the creativity, individuality, and pride that goes into projects like this!

And there’s even more to look forward to—the finished painting will be available in the Silent Auction at the Lighthouse Benefit Banquet on September 24!

Community Partnerships gives individuals the opportunity to get out, explore and be part of the communities around them. Whether visiting a greenhouse, meeting a farmer or picking up groceries at a local supermarket, each excursion brings opportunities to make choices, learn something new and connect with others.

We’re excited to welcome Matthew Toth as the featured speaker for the Lighthouse Vocational Services Benefit Banquet on September 24.
Matthew is an engaging speaker and Certified Recovery Specialist whose life is a testament to the power of second chances. After nearly two decades of profound hopelessness, Matthew reached a point of surrender that changed the direction of his life.
Today, he uses his experiences to help individuals and families find hope, connection, and a renewed sense of purpose. His message is candid, energetic, spiritual, and often funny — grounded in the belief that no diagnosis, disability, setback, or past mistake gets the final word on a person's value or potential.

Matthew takes the audience from a difficult childhood to a life transformed by faith, honesty, and human connection. His message aligns naturally with Lighthouse Vocational Services: every person deserves to be seen for who they are, to discover meaningful purpose, and to be given the opportunity to contribute.
