As an Employment Specialist in Small Group Employment (SGE), you’ll guide small groups of 2–3 individuals as they take their first steps into the workforce. For many, this is their first experience working in the community—and you’ll be there every step of the way.

Gianna works in Giant Direct, where speed, accuracy, and focus are key. Each shift, she shops for online customer orders—navigating the store, selecting specific items, scanning them, and organizing them into labeled bags for pickup. With multiple orders at once, her cart quickly fills as she moves throughout the store, often walking over 11,000 steps in a day.

When Gianna first started, the fast pace and constantly changing store layout were a challenge. With the support of her Employment Specialist, Lisa, she learned how to navigate the store, build confidence, and develop the skills needed to succeed. Over time, that support helped Gianna grow into her role and become fully independent.

Today, she works efficiently, knows the store inside and out, and even helps new employees find their way—proof of how the right support can lead to lasting success.
