October is Blindness Awareness Month. Did you know that about 77% to 80% of blindness worldwide is preventable or treatable, mostly through early detection? So if it's been a while since your last eye exam, this month is a good nudge to make that appointment!

Notable days this month: October 8th is World Sight Day and White Cane Safety Day is October 15th. The National Federation of the Blind also calls it Blind Equality Achievement Month.
