Bring the family to the refuge on Saturday, October 24, from 4:00 PM until dark (around 7:00 PM) for an evening of fun in the wild!

There’s something for everyone to enjoy:
⭐️ Face painting
 ⭐️ Live animal encounters
 ⭐️ Hands-on activities and crafts
 ⭐️ Storytime
 ⭐️ Treats and prizes ⭐️

Costumes are encouraged! The fun will take place both indoors and outdoors, so be sure to dress in layers to stay comfortable as the evening cools off.

We can’t wait to see you there!

This family friendly event will feature artist talks, yummy coffee and pastries, and an optional art activity. Get a closer look at these three murals highlighting Deer Flat’s unique role as an Urban Wildlife Refuge!

Creepy Critters returns Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. Families will explore activity stations and enjoy a festive evening at the refuge.

We need volunteers to make this family-friendly fall event a success. Please sign up for a role that appeals to you and help bring an evening of hands-on activities, treats, and WILD costumes to Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge.

Hi Friends! Save the Date, Oct 10th for our litter lift.

Thanks to all the folks who turned out to help the Friends clean up the dam in May.
We will be picking up litter on October 10th from 9AM to 12PM. Your help will be much appreciated.

The boat parking lot will be closed to the public so we will be parking on the dam. I have taken a picture of the area where we will meet. Please bring your leather gloves and litter grabbers. Rakes will be helpful in some areas. We will be working from Orchard and Riverside to Lake Shore and Riverside. This is a 2-mile stretch of highway. Canyon County Highway District 4 will provide orange garbage bags and safety vests.
Don’t forget your water bottles, the Friends will provide snacks and water! Please take the time to watch this video about safety when picking up litter on the highway.
