We remember.

We remember.

Today is D-Day Remembrance Day... on June 6, 1944, Allied forces launched Operation Overlord — the massive amphibious invasion of N**i-occupied France along the beaches of Normandy. It became one of the largest and most consequential military operations of World War II, involving thousands of ships, aircraft, and ground troops across multiple nations.

The operation marked a turning point in the war in Europe, eventually leading to the liberation of Western Europe from N**i control. The fighting on the beaches — Omaha, Utah, Gold, Juno, and Sword — came at a heavy cost, with thousands of soldiers killed or wounded on the first day alone.

Today, D-Day is remembered not just as a military milestone, but as a moment defined by sacrifice, coordination, and courage from ordinary people placed in extraordinary circumstances.

It remains one of the most studied and honored events of the 20th century.

A day to remember those who never made it home.

PTSD Awareness Month: Smash the Stigma

For far too long, the men and women who dedicate their lives to serving others have been told to stay silent about their struggles.

Police officers. Firefighters. Paramedics. Dispatchers. Military service members. Veterans.

We’ve been taught to push through the pain. To bury the memories. To wear a mask and pretend everything is fine.

But here’s the truth:

PTSD is not weakness.
PTSD is not failure.
PTSD is not something to be ashamed of.

PTSD is often the cost of witnessing humanity at its worst while doing your best to protect it.

This PTSD Awareness Month, I am asking every first responder, every service member, every veteran, and every family member standing beside them to help SMASH THE STIGMA surrounding mental health.

The strongest thing you can do is speak up.

The bravest thing you can do is ask for help.

The most courageous thing you can do is refuse to suffer in silence.

I know firsthand that trauma can convince you that you’re alone. It can make you believe that no one understands. It can make you think that asking for help is a sign of weakness.

It isn’t.

Seeking help is an act of courage.

Healing is possible.

Recovery is possible.

Hope is possible.

If you’re struggling today, know this:

Your story is not over.
Your life matters.
You matter.

Let’s build a culture where seeking support is respected, where mental health is prioritized, and where no one feels forced to fight their battles alone.

This month—and every month—let’s stand together, speak openly, support one another, and continue to SMASH THE STIGMA surrounding PTSD.

Because silence is the enemy.

Conversation saves lives.

And together, we can save more of them.

Sgt. Michael Sugrue - Ret.

Ada County Sheriff's department rode for Tobin Bolter in the Unity Ride from Philly to Washington DC. They inspire us to remember fallen officers and the sacrifices they make every day.
