🏃‍♂️The YMCA's 42nd Annual Independence Day 5K is just around the corner, and we're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make this community tradition a success.

Volunteer roles include:
Cheering on runners
Setting up or breaking down the course and event space
Staffing water stops
Assisting with registration check-in

Just a few hours of your time can make a huge difference. Proceeds from the race help ensure that no child is turned away from the Y due to financial hardship. That means, because of you, more kids learn life-saving swim skills, build confidence and friendships at camp and have safe, welcoming care after

The Outer Banks YMCA is offering an American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course June 26–28 from 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.

✔ Must attend all course sessions
✔ Must be 16+
✔ Complete required online coursework before the class
✔ Pass the lifeguard prerequisite swim test

Turn your swimming skills into a rewarding summer job!
Lifeguard positions are available at $18/hour from Memorial Day through Labor Day. ($16/hour in the offseason) All shifts available.

We’re so proud to celebrate Outer Banks YMCA group exercise instructor Lisa Minerich, OT-R/L for attending the 2026 7th World Parkinson Congress in Phoenix, AZ! 💙

Lisa is spending this week volunteering and learning from leading experts, researchers, healthcare professionals, and advocates focused on improving the management and treatment of Parkinson’s disease. She’s bringing that knowledge and inspiration back to our YMCA community and applying it to the Balance in Motion and Water Balance in Motion classes she teaches!

Her dedication to continuing education helps ensure participants receive supportive, effective, and encouraging programming that promotes strength, mobility, confidence, and connection.
