Mustang Black 4th Grade Grinds Out Gritty 12-0 Victory Over Edmond Memorial
In a matchup defined by toughness and heat, Mustang Black 4th Grade battled through scorching temperatures and a flag-heavy afternoon to secure a 12-0 shutout victory over a disciplined Edmond Memorial squad this past Saturday.
Facing 100-plus degree conditions, Head Coach Brad Smith’s squad showed true resilience. Despite racking up 90 yards in penalties, Mustang Black leaned on an oppressive defensive unit and timely big plays to stay undefeated in spirit and ex*****on.
Playmakers Step Up
Lane Plumlee ( #2 | RB/OLB): Put together a dominant, two-way masterclass to lead Mustang Black. On offense, Plumlee accounted for all 12 of Mustang’s points, finding the paydirt twice—once on the ground with a tough rushing touchdown and once through the air on a clutch TD reception. Defensively, he was a force from his outside linebacker spot, leading the team in total tackles and stripping the ball for a forced fumble.
Logan Montgomery ( #18 | WR/DB): Made key contributions on both sides of the ball. Montgomery hauled in a 25-yard reception to keep a crucial drive moving, while completely shutting down his side of the field at cornerback, preventing Edmond Memorial from establishing any rhythm in the passing game.
Rocky Logan-Coleman ( #4 | LB): Delivered non-stop disruption inside the defensive front. Logan-Coleman set the tone in the trenches, recovering a key fumble to shift momentum and tallying 2 tackles for loss to stifle Edmond’s running game before it could get moving.
Coach’s Corner
Following the tough, physical win, Coach Brad Smith praised his team’s resolve while acknowledging the areas needing growth before their next matchup:“Proud of our boys for thriving in 100+ degree heat, overcoming 90 yards in penalties, and finding a way to beat a well-coached, disciplined Edmond Memorial team. It wasn’t pretty, but good teams find ways to win. Plenty to clean up and plenty to build on. Ugly wins still count. On to the next.”Mustang Black will get back to work on the practice field this week to clean up the pre-snap penalties and refine ex*****on heading into next week.

The Mustang Broncos Black 5th-grade football team delivered a dominant performance today, shutting out Piedmont Blue in a 35-0 victory. Battling intense heat, the Broncos fired on all cylinders from the opening kickoff, putting on a clinic on both sides of the ball and securing a true total-team win.
Offense Hits Its Stride
The Broncos’ offense proved unstoppable, guided by Kyler Drumm. Recognized as one of the top-rated quarterbacks in the state for his grade, Drumm was an absolute standout on the offensive side of the ball, commanding the drive with precision. The ground game established early dominance, spearheaded by running back Braxton Carter, who broke loose for multiple touchdown runs to set the tone. Running back Caleb Wilkes added to the damage on the ground, slicing through the defense for a rushing touchdown of his own. Airing it out, Drumm connected with wide receiver Jayceon, who hauled in a touchdown reception to extend the lead.
Dominant Defense Shutout
While the offense provided the fireworks, the Mustang defense was an absolute brick wall, keeping Piedmont completely off the scoreboard. Defensive end Ty Bointy provided the defensive highlight of the day with a game-changing “scoop and score,” scooping up a fumble and taking it all the way to the end zone. The defensive front kept constant pressure on Piedmont, capping off their lights-out performance by swarming the backfield to force a safety.
Team Effort On and Off the Field
Beyond the scoreboard, the victory was a testament to grit and team support. Coaches commended the players for fighting through the tough heat and maintaining high energy from start to finish. A special thanks goes out to the parents on the sidelines, who kept the players hydrated with continuous ice and cold water throughout the contest.

The 5th-grade Mustang White Elite team showed heart and resilience in a hard-fought battle today, falling just short in a 13-0 defensive contest. Despite the tough outcome, Mustang battled for all four quarters, leaving everything on the field and showing flashes of potential on both sides of the ball.
Offensive Highlights
The Mustangs relied on a gritty ground game to move the chains against a stingy defense. Running back Luke Short ( #2) delivered multiple explosive plays, breaking free for three long runs to fuel the offense. Quarterback Kyson Johnson ( #4) demonstrated excellent dual-threat capability, calling his own number on two major runs to keep drives alive. Flexing his versatility, Glendon Dick ( #7) also made his presence felt at the H-back position, ripping off two substantial gains of his own to round out a tough night on the ground.
Defensive Battle
Defensively, Mustang White Elite refused to make anything easy for the opposition. Outside linebacker Elijah Howell ( #3) anchored the defensive effort, terrorizing the backfield all game. Howell notched two big sacks, disrupting key drives and setting a physical tone for the defense.
Looking Ahead
Head Coach Brad Dick praised his squad’s relentless drive following the contest. “I’m super proud of the boys’ effort,” Coach Dick noted, reflecting on the team’s determination throughout the game.
