EARN rescue pup Sam has been adopted!

At his forever home, Sam is just a few doors down from his previous foster family, which allows Sam to continue playing with his canine foster brother who he loves dearly!

Sam will always be within walking distance of loved ones, and will remain close to those who helped him to gain his confidence after being rescued from the San Bernardino County Animal Shelter.

He will remain a member of the extended family he’s known since EARN and his foster dad rescued him from the shelter a few months ago!

Team EARN is so happy that sweet Sam has found his forever home! Thank you to everyone who donated and shared his story! 🤎🤎🤎

Pupdate on EARN rescue, Sam! 🖤

Sam is a very handsome young pup and is available for adoption!

He is also in need of a new foster home. If you’ve ever been interested in fostering, this is the pup for you!

Sam is extremely friendly to all humans, even strangers! He likes the dog park and interacts well with new dogs. He enjoys playing catch and will actually give you the ball back. Such a gentleman!

He is incredibly sweet and will prefer to lay by your side while you work or hang out with the family. Sam is happy just being with you. He doesn’t mind the activity at all as long as he gets to hang with his humans.

He can be energetic or calm depending on the energy given to him. Such a good boy!

All it takes to get him to play or get excited is just a slightly higher pitch and maybe a double thigh slap and he is ready to play!

Sam knows and respects boundaries. He loves playing tug of war and keep away. He loves love and will roll over for belly and chin scratches. Sam loves attention but won’t break down your door to get it. He loves walks and he loves food. A true canine and certified good boy!

Sam is a seven month old shepherd mix. He is located in Southern California and is very ready to meet his forever family or new foster family!

If you cannot adopt or foster Sam, please consider donating to his care, or sharing this post to help us network him.

Thank You!

Love,
Team EARN and Cutie Pie Sam 🤎

Happy Mother’s Day from our sweet little kitty mama girls, Laurie Marie and Fancy Jean.

They are both busy taking care of the kittens together and everyone is receiving the veterinary care they so desperately need.

Both Laurie Marie and Fancy Jean lived outside and the kittens were born outside; therefore everyone came to EARN, not feeling their best. We are keeping a very close eye on everyone and taking everyone into the vet regularly to make sure they continue to heal and gain strength.

We celebrate these young mothers today, and commend all who exemplify what it means to be a caretaker. ❤️

🚨 ‼️ 🚨 ‼️

EARN is in the middle of an urgent rescue and emergency care of seven cats. The two adult female cats were both living outside and were pregnant. A neighborhood resident alerted us to their condition, but it was too late to bring them to rescue before they began giving birth. Both cats, who are reportedly sisters, went into labor on the same day. EARN rushed to the cats, but one of the sisters, Laurie Marie had begun labor and then stalled. We rushed her to the ER and sadly all of her babies had died. The ER vet performed an emergency C-Section to remove the dead kittens. Luckily, Laurie Marie was saved before sepsis began.

Laurie Marie stayed overnight at the emergency vet and underwent extensive treatment before being released the following day. Her care cost our small nonprofit thousands of dollars, but she is safe and that is what matters to us.

With Laurie stabilized, we also rescued her sister, Fancy Jean, who had successfully delivered five kittens into our care as well. Unfortunately, Fancy Jean’s health quickly declined and like Laurie Marie, she was rushed to the ER last night. She is too sick to nurse her babies, and in the most beautiful and tragic twist of fate, Laurie Marie has taken over, nursing and caring for her nieces and nephews. 🤍🖤🤎

This rescue is touch and go, and we’ve felt hesitant to share. However, we are so inspired by sisters Laurie Marie and Fancy Jean’s rescue and story that we wanted to share it with you today.

Laurie Marie was named in honor of one of our most loyal supporters who recently passed away. She loved felines and EARN. Laurie Marie cared for rescued cats her whole adult life and always supported our work and mission. She inspired us each and every day and will be greatly missed. We honor her legacy with her brave and loving namesake.

If you’d like to donate to the care of these seven beautiful and resilient kitties, we would be eternally grateful.

Last weekend, the San Bernardino County Animal Shelter emailed its rescue partners expressing concern about a potential intake of several dogs and asking for assistance in getting dogs out of the shelter who would be at increased risk of losing their lives.

EARN didn’t waste a minute. We sent one of our volunteer fosters to rescue pull a dog to help alleviate their current population and, more importantly, to save a sweet soul.

Everyone, meet Sam.

Sam is a 7-month-old Shepherd Mix who was brought into the shelter as a stray. He is a handsome, playful, and sweet pup who is settling in very well with his foster family, including his canine sibling! He’s already mastered “fetch” although, he is loving scratches and pets a bit more. Who can blame him?! Sam thoroughly enjoys playing in his new yard with his foster dad.

Sam has received his initial vaccinations and we look forward to continuing to care for Sam on his journey to his forever home. We love him already!

If you are interested in adopting Sam, please fill out our adoption form on our website!

And please, if any of you reading this have any space at all, please consider going to the San Bernardino County Animal Shelter to save a life. They are severely overcrowded, including with many puppies, who are at risk of losing their lives.

Thank you for your consideration and compassion 🐶

EARN is made up of compassionate animal lovers who have been in the rescue world for decades. We have individually rescued animals and have learned firsthand the importance of quality training to set rescue dogs up for success! To date, EARN has provided immersive training for 14 of our rescued dogs.

Our team has rescued dogs from high-stress environments, including shelters, homelessness, and people who no longer want them. We have seen firsthand, in our own homes, how dogs need time to decompress, require training, and strive once they understand commands and routine.

Unfortunately, we see animals from a variety of backgrounds that do not support the need for routine, clear commands, and stability, all of which encourage dogs to thrive and behave in ways that align with their human companions and fellow canines.

Because of our love for the animals we rescue, we have invested in cultivating relationships with two training facilities we trust and are honored to partner with. Although enrolling our rescued dogs in immersive training programs is an expensive cost for our organization, it is one that we will provide for our rescued dogs again and again because we have witnessed the transformation that the experience creates.

Unstable, timid, and reactive dogs begin to trust humans for the first time in their lives. The dogs begin to learn what is expected of them and what to expect from humans. They gain confidence when given time to play, decompress, and learn. Basic commands are mastered and the dogs thrive.

Once our rescue dogs complete their training, EARN’s success rate of finding and placing them in their forever homes skyrockets. Not a single one of our dogs has ever been returned to us.

To help us continue to provide this vital service for our rescued dogs, please consider donating to our organization. We, and our EARN pups, thank you!🩶🐶

🩶 Meet Chance 🩶

Chance is a 5 year old, 57 pound pit bull mix, who is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccinations.

Chance was found wandering the streets, emaciated and dirty.

He is shy at first and needs a short period to feel safe — usually just an hour or two. Once he trusts you, he becomes affectionate, loyal, and deeply bonded. He is a true snuggler and thrives on gentle connection. Chance does not have a mean bone in his body.

Chance does well with other dogs and warms up beautifully. He enjoys companionship and, once comfortable, engages happily in play. When he entered foster care, Chance did not know how to play or what affection was. With patience and guidance, he has blossomed. He now loves toys, enjoys interaction, and shows joyful, youthful energy.

Chance spent several weeks boarded with a respected top trainer in the Los Angeles area. He received structure, guidance, and positive reinforcement. Chance would thrive in a patient, loving home that appreciates the quiet transformation of an underdog. Someone who understands that the deepest bonds are built through trust and kindness.

If you are looking for a dog who will warm up, feel safe, and then love you wholeheartedly for years to come — this is your Chance.

Please note that Chance is a courtesy post. If interested in learning more, contact Frankie at:[email protected]

We’re still fighting for the deer of Catalina Island!

RLG and EARN Attorneys Sarah A. Thompson and Jill L. Ryther partnered with LACBA to draft a letter to CA Fish and Wildlife Director, Meghan Hertel, in part stating, “We write on behalf of the Animal Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association to express our opposition to the recently approved plan to systematically kill the non-native mule deer population on Santa Catalina Island. This plan follows a prior proposal to shoot deer from helicopters–a proposal that was withdrawn after widespread public outcry due to its inhumane nature and the distress it caused the community.”

We will continue to advocate for all animals!

If you haven’t yet, please sign the petition to stop the planned murder of the deer on Catalina Island.

Hi Friends!

EARN dog, Ava is absolutely thriving at Topline K9 Services in her immersive training program!

When Ava came to EARN she was struggling to connect with other dogs, but those days are over!

Ava is playing, hiking, and even going on car rides with other pups! She is thriving and loving making new friends with the other dogs she meets!

Our hearts are melting at the transformation this beautiful girl is making!

Our EARN team invests fully in every dog we take on, therefore, we made the decision to enroll her in an immersive training program, and we are so glad that we did!

Our team felt that she deserved every chance to learn how to trust and spend time with other dogs. We didn’t want to deny her a life with other dogs, if she would enjoy being part of a pack.

We are so proud of our girl! 🎉 🐶

Ava will be at Topline for the next several weeks, meeting and greeting, playing, and training.

Enrolling our animals in boarding and training programs costs EARN valuable funding, but we feel every penny is well spent. Seeing Ava’s incredible transformation this early only solidifies that we’ve done the right thing for her.

But we need your help.

Please consider donating to Ava’s fundraiser to help our small nonprofit offset the costs for her immersive training program. Every penny will make a huge difference in helping Ava prepare for adoption and will tremendously expand the types of homes where we can safely place Ava.
