Paxton Feline Rescue

Paxton Feline Rescue From feral to friendly, we love them all. We can't save them all but we can certainly save the ones that cross our path.

We are a small foster-based, family-oriented, cat-specific rescue that focuses on TNR and aiding local shelters with scared and feral felines. We strive to educate the community on humane alternatives to "trapping and dumping" of local wild cat populations at shelters where they routinely face euthanasia despite a shelter's efforts to help them. Through TNR and working directly with the community

we hope to alleviate the pressure feral cats place on already over-populated and over-worked shelter systems and stymie the constant breeding that filters kittens into the shelter system as well.

Ozzie's appetite was ten fold this morning. He woke up screaming for more food even though I fed him through the night on the same schedule as my bottle babies! I am very hopeful that this was just a case of "Picky Kitten Syndome" afterall. 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Your good vibes are helping! He is eating all on his own right now, with a ferocity I might add! 😍

I was speaking with his foster and speculated that this *may* be a case of picky kitten! He was doing great on his current diet, eating well and then decided, "You know what, this is C Grade slop! I want caviar!" And BOOM! Hunger strike!

Only time will tell but I'm very hopeful given his current appetite. Definitely going to start on some antibiotics since he has some nasal discharge and sneezing. Hopefully, that boosts his little body into feeling better. 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Our little grumpy man has returned from foster because he decided not to feel good and start crashing. 😐 As it goes with any perfectly healthy kitten, some just decide to stop thriving. And when he was already working against a deficit, it makes it that much easier to crash.

Sometimes, you can catch it early enough and pull them through it.

Sometimes you can't.

That is the curse of kittenhood. One day they're playing with their siblings and the next day they're lifeless, lethargic and refusing care.

So little man will hang out and *hopefully* I can push him over this hump. He definitely has a little upper respiratory going on so that is likely playing into his current failure to thrive. He did eat a really good meal upon intake so that's at least a little improvement. Please keep him in your prayers.

Despite my best efforts, my little crispy Tidbit, passed during the night. She tried so darn hard. SO HARD. But her little body just couldn't keep working anymore. I truly believe she had a significant health deficit or those damn fleas had just taken too much from her from the start.

Rest sweet little girl. May you find peace in the Rainbow Fields 💔🌈🌾

We have 2 friendly boys on our hands from today's appointments, one of which had a pretty gnarly abscess on his foot.

My commitment stands that if a trapped colony cat ever gives me a reason to think he's friendly, they get a chance to be an indoor cat.

And these 2 boys are loud and clear: they want to be inside kitties!🎉 So looks like we have a trap-neuter-RETAIN on our hands x 2! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Now.... what should we name them?

Well as it always goes, I went out to the colony to trap #83 and #84 for appointments tomorrow and came home with #85 and #86. 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠

But the second I picked them up and saw 20-30 fleas a piece, I knew they wouldn't survive another night without intervention.

So Tidbit now has some siblings to keep her company. Maybe they will perk her up a bit. 🙏🫶

So I went to release EC Main St #81 the other day and this dang gal gave me the cutest blep. I just COULDN'T let her go. 😣

My goal is always to give any feral cat that shows me promise, a chance at indoor life. She has been very calm in the trap, shown absolutely no aggression and even permitted petting.

So she is hanging out with me for a few days. If she chooses to be friends then she will go up for adoption. If she chooses violence, she can still safely return to her colony.

Time will tell.....😍

Roadie has a full belly and a warm little spot to rest. His foster mom is calling for an appt under the rescue at Hickory first thing in the morning. He has definitely sustained potential head trauma and will likely need xrays. PLEASE consider making a donation towards his appt tomorrow or consider donating some kitten food for the babies in house! 🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶
