Paxton Feline Rescue

Paxton Feline Rescue From feral to friendly, we love them all. We can't save them all but we can certainly save the ones that cross our path.

We are a small foster-based, family-oriented, cat-specific rescue that focuses on TNR and aiding local shelters with scared and feral felines. We strive to educate the community on humane alternatives to "trapping and dumping" of local wild cat populations at shelters where they routinely face euthanasia despite a shelter's efforts to help them. Through TNR and working directly with the community

we hope to alleviate the pressure feral cats place on already over-populated and over-worked shelter systems and stymie the constant breeding that filters kittens into the shelter system as well.

Hey guys, we could really use some help! I'm pouring through money getting cats updated, keeping up with food and litter demands and medication bills.

Please consider donating monetary funds or looking through the amazon wishlist! Money unfortunately does not grow on rescue trees and when adoptions are slow, we suffer big time.

Current food needs:
Fancy Feast kitten pate
Sam's Indoor Healthy Advantage Chicken dry

Additionally consider adding funds to our account at Hickory Veterinary Hospital to help sponsor a kitty! Binx is going in tomorrow for bloodwork and updates. Anything is helpful at this point!

Despite the odds, Tidbit made it through the night. She is still struggling as the flea anemia is severe but she is still trying to eat and move around. She is receiving subq fluids, B12, Pettinic, Nutrical and Doxy. I'm literally throwing everything I can her way but I know it's up to her little spirit to keep going.

Well I went out to trap kitties for TNR appts tomorrow and came home with this Tidbit. She was lateral upon intake, white gummed and covered in fleas. Gave cqpstar, did subq fluids, B12 and got some food in her and she perked up BUT I'm not going to get my hopes up. Flea anemia can wipe out a neonate in 24 hours.

Pray for this little lady. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Meet Pogo!

Pogo is pretty stinking mad right now. I can't blame him. I did name him Pogo for a reason. See, angry little Pogo is missing a paw on one of his back legs. Yup, a whole paw just GONE. He may have been born without it. He may have lost it along the way but it's kapoot and that's how he got the name Pogo!

So the leftover nub has some irritation but that could be from him using it like a peg leg or the remnants of the potential injury healing. Regardless, he will likely have to have the leg amputated IF he continues to irritate the site. Time will only tell in that regard.

He's also pretty unsociable right now. He's been trying his best in the wild but I'm glad the caretaker got him at this age. I still have a chance to turn him around but in the end, it will be his choice.

So that's Pogo for you! Can you guess what colony I pulled him from? 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠

UPDATE: the kitten I assumed might have a spinal cord injury decided she needed to prove me completely wrong and got up on those wobbly back legs and started walking.

Now keep in mind, this kitten arrived last night, lateral, with a breathless mew, cold feet and could barely lift her head. I did critical care regardless but did not think she would make it through the night.

But she DID!

As of this morning, she seemed spunkier and lifted her head for more food. As of 30 minutes ago, she started walking!

Although she is still going to the vet for diagnostics, I am leaning heavily towards severe malnutrition and/or dehydration.

Fingers crossed we have a good visit and still have a chance to offer her quality of life. Maybe, just maybe, we caught this one in time. ❤️

I have named her Chantilly!

We've had 3 kittens with back leg injuries come in within the last 3 days. This one is likely a spinal injury and I am booting Binx from his appt today to bring this little one in for X-rays. I unfortunately do not think she will have a good outcome but I owe her to try. She had a great appetite but if she cannot have quality of life moving forward, I don't feel it's fair to push her past this point.

Donations are greatly appreciated!

She's growing like a w**d and ready to find her forever home! 😭😭😭

This girl is as sweet and affectionate as they come! Her purr is HUGE! And she is a playful little thing! Potential adopters will be required to have other cats in the home OR will be willing to adopt another kitten (HINT HINT: Baby Void) to keep her company!

Please keep in mind that although the loss of limb has no affect on her life and well-being she *may* face arthritis later on in her life because the other legs have to compensate for the loss of the years. Doesn't mean she will, but she might!
