Laurel House had the wonderful honor of sponsoring and attending the 2026 Gala of Giving - Catalyst for Change.

We thank The Community Foundation of Fayette County for allowing us to be a part of this event and the wonderful movement within Fayette County. It is the responsibility of everyone to do their part and continue to push for a better tomorrow for our community and all members within!

Huge thank you to Herald-Standard News for allowing us to highlight our individuals during Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.

March is an important month in our industry to highlight our individuals, and the lack of understanding for their daily struggles.

Laurel House encourages all people of the community to spend more time learning, and understanding. We’d love to speak with anyone more about our services if you’re simply interesting in hearing more of what we do, and why we do it.

March is National Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Awareness Month in the U.S., dedicated to fostering inclusion, independence, and awareness for individuals with disabilities.

We are inviting all of the IDD/EI community of Fayette County to join us on Friday, March 27th for a breakfast buffet to recognize IDD Month.

We hope to see some new and some familiar faces. 🙂

Meet Bettina!

On 2/23/26, Bettina reached the milestone of 30 years of service with Laurel House- what a wonderful accomplishment! Laurel House could not be more appreciative of the hard work and dedication she has consistently maintained for the individuals we serve. To honor her long tenure, we wanted to highlight a bit of what her experience has been with a testimony of Bettina’s:

What made you choose Laurel House? – “The excellent pay and benefits.”

What are some of the biggest changes that you have seen in Laurel House in your time here? – “Just the amount that the company has grown over the last couple of years.”

Do you remember your first day? What did you imagine of your time here? – “Yes, staff met me at my worksite who filled me in on my responsibilities and a little while later I started my shift. Back then, we had no shadowing staff, and you had to learn by trial and error! I honestly didn't think I would last 3 months. Looking back, I see that God's got a sense of humor and sustained me for 30 years!”

What keeps you motivated? – “My faith and my family.”

What is your favorite memory so far with Laurel House? – “One of my favorite memories is playing cards and eating snacks in the evenings with the crew.”

What is one thing that you know now that you wish you would have known 30 years ago? – “Savor the time and memories you're making at Laurel House. I wish I could go back in time and just savor the time with the individuals, staff, and everyone in the office who are no longer with us.”
