SHCC goes to Denver - Day 4! We were still riding high this morning from yesterday’s concerts as we headed to Rocky Mountain National Park. After we picked up our guide, Thomas, we explored the famous Trail Ridge Road, where we spotted elk, mule deer, marmots, and some AMAZING vistas. At the Alpine Visitor’s Center, we enjoyed lunch and were shocked by the changes in weather and oxygen levels at 12,000 feet above sea level. Later, we came back down the mountain and strolled along the Estes Park Riverwalk. It was another memorable day!

SHCC goes to Denver - Day 3! Today was unforgettable! We were honored to participate in the morning service at St. John’s Cathedral. This evening we headed to St Andrew’s UMC and for a joint concert with the Young Voices of Denver. The audience was warm and wonderful and the students sing beautifully!

SHCC goes to Denver - Day 2. We spent the day at the Denver Zoo. Later, we got dressed to go to dinner at Marco’s Coal Fired Pizza and to watch Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. We had a great day and can’t wait to start singing tomorrow.

SHCC goes to Denver! Day 1 - we caught an early flight to Denver, headed to the Denver Botanical Garden, had lunch at the Denver Milk Market, explored the Colorado History Museum, and enjoyed a delicious taco bar at La Loma! Great. First. Day!

Interested in being part of the Spivey Hall Children's Choir? There's still time to audition! Interested singers can apply and schedule private auditions by registering at the link below.

No previous choral experience is required. Singers must be between the ages of 10 and 15 on Sept. 1, 2026.

This Friday, the Spivey Hall Tour Choir heads to Denver! While we’re there, we will explore Rocky Mountain National Park. Back in February, I challenged the students to collectively walk 150 miles around the lake during their dinner breaks each Monday to help us get prepared. We didn’t make 150 miles, but we got so close. I’m so proud of the students for walking 145 miles in the past few months. Denver here we come! -Dr. Hurley
