🎃 Community Spirit Is Alive and Well at The Post!

We're proud to be an active part of the Morris Plains community.

Thanks to the Rotary Club of Morris Plains for inviting us to participate in the Scarecrow Project on Speedwell Avenue.

We proud to be a part of the fabric of Morris Plains and the surrounding communities and always enjoy opportunities to come together with our neighbors and fellow community organizations.

Community service doesn't stop when military service ends!

I was asked to say a few words this weekend at the Global War on Terrorism commemoration at County College of Morris. I tried, and I couldn't get them out.

I always thought I understood what Vietnam veterans felt when they stood at the Wall. I was wrong. I looked out at the faces of the men and women we lost in the Global War on Terror, some of whom I knew and served with, and it broke me.

This is a picture of me, but I don't think it's only about me. I think it shows what every combat veteran carries, whether it shows on the outside or not.

To Morris County Government, County College of Morris, NJ SOS Veteran Stakeholders group, Welcome Home Vets of NJ, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson and everyone who brought this memorial to New Jersey: I couldn't find the words to thank you in the moment, so I'll say it now. You made a difference. Thank you.

We will never forget them.

The Remembering Our Fallen national traveling memorial is now open for public viewing indoors in the HPE Gymnasium, near Lot 7, at the County College of Morris. The photographic exhibit honors more than 5,000 U.S. service members who lost their lives during the Global War on Terrorism, featuring 35 tribute towers with military and personal photographs. Admission is free and no registration is required.

Visitors are asked to enter through Lot 7 for the most direct access to the gymnasium.

Public viewing hours:
Today, Sept. 25: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 26: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 27: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WE WILL NEVER FORGET SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

Today, Watnong VFW Post 3401 joins our community and our nation in remembering the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We honor the innocent lives taken, the first responders who ran toward danger, the members of our Armed Forces who answered the call to serve in the years that followed, and the families who continue to carry the weight of that day.

September 11 reminds us not only of unimaginable loss, but also of the courage, sacrifice, and unity Americans showed in its aftermath.

May we continue to honor their memory by remembering what brought us together.
We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

The Fourth of July is more than a summer holiday—it's a celebration of the enduring American spirit. It reminds us of the courage of those who founded our nation and of every generation of service members who answered the call to protect the liberties we enjoy today.

At Watnong VFW Post 3401, we are honored to stand alongside those who served and to keep alive the values of patriotism, service, and sacrifice. As our community comes together to celebrate, we encourage everyone to pause for a moment of gratitude for the veterans, active-duty military, and their families whose commitment has helped preserve our freedom.

We wish everyone a safe and memorable Independence Day filled with family, friends, and pride in our great nation.
