The Friends of the Cheat Snorkel Club is looking for organized groups of kids ages 8 and up to uncover the magic of the Cheat River watershed. With guidance from our knowledgeable educators, kids will get an unforgettable up-close look at the incredible underwater world hiding beneath the surface.

Interested in a seasonal entry level position working for the National Park Service? New River Gorge National Park and Preserve is currently accepting applications for a Visitor Services Assistant (VSA) at the GS-4 level. VSAs serve as representatives to answer questions and offer guidance to park visitors, monitor sites and maintain relations with park partners, and assist rangers with a variety of duties.

Open to the first 50 applicants or until 05/17/2026 whichever comes first.

Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge, West Virginia Nature Conservancy, and Friends of the Cheat have been working collaboratively on a watershed restoration project for the Upper Blackwater River! 🐟💧🌿

Join us on Wednesday, May 13 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm at the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center as we dive into the ecological research we've been conducting in the Blackwater watershed, which will set a precedent for ecological restoration for years to come.

There will also be a camp Workday - Sunday, May 17th at 9am. Camp Board is asking for help. If you are available, please come and help with some of the projects to get the camp ready for the summer. While there are some projects that might require some tools and special knowledge, there are always projects that just require some able bodies to complete.
