The Douglass Leadership Institute is pleased to have served as a sponsor and exhibitor at the first F.O.C.U.S. (i.e., Fellowship Of Church Auxiliaries United & Serving) Conference & Holy Convocation of the Northwestern District of the United Holy Church of America, Inc. in Canton, OH!

We were honored to lead a workshop entitled: Why is the Black Family Under Attack?, and also to host a luncheon entitled: Why the Douglass Leadership Institute Now?

The information and resources we shared were very well received. This was the first of what we hope to be a long and strong partnership with a mission of educating, equipping, and empowering the leaders and members of what is reported to be the oldest African-American Holiness-Pentecostal denomination in the world!

The Douglass Leadership Institute hosted the Defending Life Community Prayer Brunch on Saturday, May 30th, in Richmond, VA. As abortion continues to be a controversial issue in the Commonwealth, DLI is going around the state to bring education, awareness, and conviction concerning what needs to be done. Our panel, which consisted of host pastor Bishop Darryl Husband, Pastor JR Gurley, and Evangelist Renee Bailey, showed the strength of a community father and the heart of an awakened mother. Our president, Bishop Garland Hunt, gave a tremendous keynote concerning the need to come out of our safe places and lend our passion and voices to this necessary cause. We ended the session with key pastors in the city praying for a stronger church and changed hearts. The event was provoking, and DLI was not only praised for our work, but asked to come to other areas to continue to press the message.

Today is Memorial Day. While you’re enjoying time with family and friends, take a moment to remember what today is about. Remember those that lost their lives protecting FREEDOM. Not just ours, but people all over God’s beautiful creation. Our nation is the strongest, and the strong are supposed to protect the weak. Praise God for those that are willing to put their lives on the line, not just for the US, but for all that suffer oppression.

Bob Woodson Sr. has gone on to be with the Lord. He was an amazing man of God that genuinely cared for people. He will be missed greatly. We count ourselves blessed to call this man friend. We will see you again when God calls us home.
