DLI’s philosophy is based upon the sanctity of human life, the promotion of free market principles, and limited government.

The Douglass Leadership Institute (DLI) is a national education and public policy 501(c)(3) organization with representatives and groups across the United States. Founded in 2015, DLI is the brainchild of Dean Nelson, a minister and veteran political and pro-life leader. Through Dean’s years of working with African American churches and advocacy for biblical worldview in the marketplace, it became

clear that there was a need to bridge the gap between African American faith-based institutions, civil government and the civic world. Thus, DLI was created to develop a network of faith-based leaders across the nation and provide them with uniquely tailored programs, information and social networking that will engage, equip and empower men and women of faith. So that men and women of faith need to not only take positions of leadership and prominence in our cities and businesses but to also come equipped with biblical worldview values to shape and influence policy in our nation.

Happy Fourth of July!

On July 4, 1776, 250 years ago, our Founding Fathers sacrificed their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to create a new country—the United States of America.

The Declaration of Independence fittingly states, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights, that among them are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

More important than our physical freedom, is our spiritual freedom. We are born chained by sin, but the blood of Christ can set us free. If we believe in him, his death, and his resurrection, we too can accept his gift of salvation, and be proclaimed a child of God.

We had an amazing time at this year’s Juneteenth Jubilee in Tysons, Va. on June 19. Here are some photos from the days event. DLI’s Director of Ministry Engagement, Apostle Arnold Culbreath, was the MC for our event. The Honorable Kenneth Blackwell gave an incredible message as our keynote speaker. We also awarded Lt Gov Winsome Sears with DLI’s Frederick Douglass Award.

DLI’s first major event of the year is in the books. Keep an eye out for information on our Annual Conference in November.

The word Father is mentioned almost 1700 times in the Bible.

This action explicitly signals that fatherhood is vitally important in God’s eyes. And, it tells us that God’s word is a Biblical blueprint outlining his purpose for fathers — to lead his household spiritually and direct them toward faith in Christ, discipline with love, model faithful obedience to God and demonstrate the incredible power of prayer.

The Douglass Leadership Institute is pleased to have served as a sponsor and exhibitor at the first F.O.C.U.S. (i.e., Fellowship Of Church Auxiliaries United & Serving) Conference & Holy Convocation of the Northwestern District of the United Holy Church of America, Inc. in Canton, OH!

We were honored to lead a workshop entitled: Why is the Black Family Under Attack?, and also to host a luncheon entitled: Why the Douglass Leadership Institute Now?

The information and resources we shared were very well received. This was the first of what we hope to be a long and strong partnership with a mission of educating, equipping, and empowering the leaders and members of what is reported to be the oldest African-American Holiness-Pentecostal denomination in the world!
