Thank you all attending and supporting our Camas Prairie Interpretive Event on Saturday at Schafer State Park. We had about 50 people attend and luckily they were all prepared for the rain we unfortunately had. While it did rain pretty hard at times, it did not dampen spirits.

We listened to a wonderful presentation on the local prairie environment on the uses of camas by Native Americans, followed by a short hike to the prairie to see the camas and other wildflowers in bloom. The event included information from the GH Audubon Society, and on the flora and fauna of our Horse Prairie. There was a demonstration of the use of Oak Gall Ink and examples of roasted and dried camas bulbs as well as an experimental garden created to introduce missing native plant species in restoration of this prairie.

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers and to Stan and Susie Graham, Dave Peter, and Kathy Jacobson, for the wonderful presentation on native prairies and camas. Thank you also to Rodney Jones for the beautiful flute music!

Our FOSLS Organization cherishes our natural environment and are committed to preserving, maintaining and improving it for you and future generations. THank you!
