๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿšœ What a great day in the field!

Monroe Conservation District would like to extend a huge thank you to Michigan State University Extension Monroe County MSU Extension and Setzler Farms for an awesome 2026 Monroe Field Day!

It was a great opportunity to bring farmers, conservation professionals, educators, and community partners together for hands-on learning right here in Monroe County. From no-till and tillage demonstrations to discussions on drainage, manure management, PFAS, soil health, and conservation practices, there was a lot of great information shared throughout the day.

We were especially excited to have our own Madi Hess represent Monroe Conservation District during the no-till drill demonstration! ๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ‘

And we have to give a special shout-out to Back in the Day Catering for the amazing lunch! We love being able to support another small local business, and the food was absolutely delicious. โค๏ธ

Thank you to everyone who helped organize the event, brought equipment, presented, hosted, and came out to spend the day learning with us. Partnerships like these are what make agricultural conservation work happen in our community.

Weโ€™re already looking forward to the next one! ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿšœ

Introducing the Performance-Based Conservation Adoption Program.

Pay-for-performance, or Performance-Based Conservation, ties payments to the actual reduction in pollutants, such as phosphorus, rewarding outcomes rather than just actions. Instead of paying a set price for a farm practice, such as cover crops, it calculates the payment based of the impact in pounds of phosphorus reduced from a practice or set of practices.

Benefits of the program:
-Offer higher payments and incentives where conservation practices have the greatest impact
-Achieve environmental outcomes more cost effectively
-Deliver quantifiable and transparent results
-Attract private sector investors to achieve goals
-Align better with environmental goals
