During Chicago Climate Week, Girl Plus Environment was proud to co-host a screening of In My Backyard with The Nature Conservancy featuring opening remarks from our Executive Director and Founder Diamond Spratling. 💚

The documentary follows Tonyisha Harris and explores what community-centered climate leadership looks like in practice. It reminds us that the energy transition isn’t something happening to communities. It’s something communities are already shaping every day.

Stories like Tonyisha’s are exactly why representation matters. When people can see themselves reflected in climate leadership, it becomes easier to imagine themselves as part of the solution.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an evening of storytelling, conversation, and community. We’re grateful to The Nature Conservancy for partnering with us to bring this film to Chicago Climate Week.
