Banks Didn't Say a Word. He Made a Difference.
Sometimes, all it takes is a patient listener to help a child find the courage to try.
During a recent therapy visit, Banks, one of our therapy dogs with R.E.A.D. training, became a very special audience for a student who had often struggled with reading aloud.
When she learned that Banks loves listening to books, she voluntarily picked up a chapter book and began reading to him.
Banks simply sat beside her, listening patiently without judgment or pressure.
When she encountered a difficult word, she accepted a little help and continued reading.
What made this moment extraordinary? Her teacher shared that reading aloud usually brought frustration, outbursts, and tears.
But this time, she chose to read. No tears. No frustration. Just confidence, courage, and Banks by her side.
Banks didn't need to say a word to make a difference. His calm presence helped turn a challenging experience into a meaningful milestone.
