North Dakota Geographic Alliance We provide educators with professional development, networking, and teaching materials to promote public awareness of the importance of geography.

NDGA, established in 1991, is a university-based, statewide partnership between professors and K-12 teachers. The Alliance provides educators with professional development, networking, and teaching materials and promotes public awareness of the importance of geographic skills and fluency. Part of National Geographic's nationwide network of state Geographic Alliances, NDGA's programs teach students

to care for the planet, its resources, and all of its inhabitants and prepare them to succeed as citizens in an increasingly global society.

FREE CONTINUING ED CLASS!!
The North Dakota Geographic Alliance (NDGA) is pleased to announce our 2026 Ag in the Classroom farm tour, taking place June 15-16 in the Bismarck-Mandan area.



This two-day workshop offers participants first-hand experience with North Dakota’s agriculture industry. The itinerary includes visits to the Brown Regenerative Ag Farm, Menoken Farm’s alternative agriculture plots, Schaff Angus Ranch, Cloverdale Foods, and other local sites.

Program Details:

- Dates: June 15-16, 2026
- Location: Bismarck-Mandan Area
- Cost: $50 (covers 1 Continuing Education credit)
- Capacity: Limited to 20 participants
- Inclusions: NDGA will provide most meals and overnight accommodations in Bismarck if necessary.

Participant will view Podcasts, interactive website, current topic readings to enhance their understand of what is going on in Geography in North Dakota.

Topics include Weather and Global Warming, Crypto Currency and North Dakotas role in the industry, Eco- Friendly farming, Mapping 101 and more.

NDGA Book Study Class

The North Dakota Geographic Alliance will be hosting a book study class.

This class will be an online/interactive class. Participants will be reading and sharing thoughts about the book titled

Other Words for Home

Other Words for Home is a 2019 free verse children's book by Jasmine Warga. The story is about a family of Syrian refugees with Jude, a 12-year-old girl, as protagonist. The book won a 2020 Newbery Honor.

The cost of the class is $50 –that will cover the cost of one continuing education credit from NDSU

The class will begin about June 15 and end in mid July.
