⚠️ WARNING ⚠️

Kirkwood Mall currently has a vendor located next to the children's play place who is a convicted s*x offender. There have been reports of him recording kids on his phone, specifically a girl's dance group that preformed this weekend. Mall management is fully aware of the situation.

*I want to be clear this post is only to warn parents to be extra cautious and aware while in the mall, not to incite violence.*

1706- Onesimus was the first black to introduce inoculation against smallpox to the American colonies. He taught the practice to his master, Cotton Mather, the Massachusetts Puritan minister, who promoted inoculation during the epidemic of 1721. There was considerable resistance to this life-saving procedure, and several proponents, including Mather, were threatened with mob violence. Inoculation was generally accepted by 1777.

1967- Charley Pride (1939-2020), singer and guitarist, became the first black singer with the Grand Ole Opry. His first interest at first was in baseball, and at the age of sixteen he left his home state of Mississippi to seek employment with the Negro-American Baseball League. Opry star Red Foley heard Pride sing country music in 1963 and encouraged him to go to Nashville, where he charmed RCA Records and entered the country music field. The white audience at his first major concert in 1967 did not know his race until he appeared on stage. His recording "Just Between Me and You" launched him into super-stardom and made him a number-one country music attraction. In 1971 Pride was the first black named Entertainer of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year in the field of country music.

HB 1298 intentionally excludes transgender and inters*x youth from sports. North Dakota legislators should not be passing blanketed policies that discriminate against kids and ban them from playing because they’re transgender. Like any student, transgender kids thrive when treated with dignity and respect.
This bill defies medical experts, sports associations like the NCAA and the International Olympic Committee, and school administrators all over the country—all of whom say that the policy proposed by this bill is harmful and unnecessary. Instead of leveling the playing field for all students, this policy would put hurdles in front of some students just because they’re different.

North Dakotans are better than this. We support fairness and freedom. We can celebrate girls’ sports and protect transgender youth from discrimination, making sure that all young people can access the lessons and opportunities that sports offer. To target our youth is harmful and against our North Dakota core values.

Let your legislator know you DO NOT support HB 1298.

It's easy! You can personalize or send the letter, as is, to your legislator.

"Magic City Equality fights for the civil rights of all individuals, opposes all forms of discrimination, including discrimination based on gender identity and s*xual orientation, and promotes equality for ALL. For far too long, the civil rights protections guaranteed to millions of Americans have been denied to those who identify as LGBTQ2S+ (le***an, gay, bis*xual, transgender, q***r or questioning, and two-spirit).

During the September 8, 2020, Minot City Council meeting, some area citizens who opposed the rainbow flag raising expressed some damaging views toward the members of the LGBTQ2S+ community. There is much work to be done toward understanding and acceptance. The mission of Magic City Equality is to guarantee inclusion and equality--for ALL. We ask the community, local businesses, and leaders to show their support by sharing our logo. Place it as your profile picture, post it to your Facebook wall, print it out and hang it in the windows of your homes, vehicles, business, or anywhere else you want to show your commitment to equality. Our voices will be amplified with your stand in supporting our message of equality."
