Minocqua / Kawaga Lakes Association (MKLPA) is committed to doing all we can to maintain healthy lakes and a terrific lake community!

Lake Association Projects/Accomplishments/Issues

Lead the difficult and expensive tasks of controlling Eurasian watermilfoil (ERM) which infests both lakes.

2013 herbicide treatment cost $40,000 plus $16,000 for our two dive teams

Eurasian watermilfoil costs since 2005 are over $400,000

An enduring disappointment is the lack of support from the 850 lake residents – only about 250 belong to the

Lake Association

Have been very successful in winning financial support from government entities – at total of about $600,000 since 1997

The Association just completed a Comprehensive Lakes Management Plan – total cost approximately $750,000. This plan will greatly enhance our ability to win more grants from the Wisconsin DNR plus it gives us a great anchor point as we look
ahead. Association members are routinely engaged in lake monitoring looking for new patches of ERM

The Association is engaged in a new effort to solicit new members. The association has sponsored an annual fund raising pig roast (this year – August 31th) for at least 13 years – come join us
