One last THANK YOU to all our spring & summer yard clean-up volunteers! Many of our clients can't pull weeds, sweep walkways, or put out lawn furniture themselves anymore. We believe that shouldn't mean they can't have pride in and continue to live independently in their homes. Every group that lends a few hours makes a HUGE different in the lives of their older neighbors!

Our next seasonal mission will be fall raking! Stay tuned... 🍂

Senior Community Services is grateful to receive an AARP Community Challenge Grant! This support will be used to build a mobile technology lab to provide classes and education to older adults in housing and community sites. 🛜📱

We’re announcing the 2026 AARP Community Challenge grantees – and marking the program’s 10-year anniversary by doubling its size.

In 2026, AARP is investing $8.3 million through 750 grants to support projects that make communities more livable for people of all ages.

Projects will focus on:
🏞️ Public places
🚍 Transportation
🏡 Housing
🌐 High-speed internet (support from Microsoft)
🚶 Pedestrian safety (support from Toyota USA)

📣 Announcing the Reimagine Aging Conference lineup!

Technology seems like it changes faster and faster every day. You know it can be helpful, but how do you figure out what is actually safe and useful?

Our lineup of speakers is ready to get you up to speed. Through our year-round educational work, we hear what topics have older adults and caregivers most excited or in need of clarity. We use this knowledge to pick sessions that are really relevant to what people are thinking about now in 2026.

And the topic we have gotten the most questions about in the past year is the subject of our Keynote Panel -- "AI & Aging: Promise, Risk, and Real-World Impact." Whether artificial intelligence has you excited, concerned, or somewhere in between, this panel will provide a balanced, accessible discussion: What it can do, where caution is needed, and how it may impact older adults going forward.
