Changes are coming to Medi-Cal and CalFresh under a new federal law (H.R. 1) — and a few simple steps can protect your benefits.

The most important thing to know: many people keep their coverage, as long as they stay on top of a few things. The number one reason people lose benefits isn't the new rules — it's missed mail and paperwork.

Here's what to do now:

✅ Keep your mailing address and contact information up to date with the county.

✅ Respond promptly to any Medi-Cal or CalFresh notice — don't set it aside.

✅ If it applies to you, keep records of your work, school, volunteering, or community activities.

Need help in person? ICC is proud to be a partner in a network of organizations across Santa Clara County offering free help with Medi-Cal.

According to the South Asian Public Health Association, 1 in 5 South Asians in the U.S. experience a mood or anxiety disorder in their lifetime. These struggles are real, and they are not rare.
