Camp HERO is seeking interpreters to assist during camp week, July 26–31. If you’re interested, please contact Camp HERO directly. Please see the attached flyer for contact information. More details will be provided on the application. The application is open until May 31st to help prepare for camp.

That $800 has now been donated to Camp HERO and will be used to provide a camp scholarship in Lala’s memory.

Camp HERO was a place that meant so much to Lala. It was a space where she laughed, connected with friends, and truly felt she belonged. Knowing that another child will get the opportunity to experience camp because of the love shown in her name means more than words can express.

The Board of Camp HERO is deeply saddened by the passing of longtime camper La’Niyah ‘LaLa’ Clark, a cherished member of our camp family. Camp HERO welcomes deaf and hard-of-hearing campers from across Pennsylvania, neighboring states, and even internationally, providing a fully accessible camp experience through both sign language and spoken communication. Our motto has always been simple: here, everyone is one.

LaLa brought a special light to Camp HERO. Known for her wit, warmth, and the friendships she built each year, she was often found rocking outside a cabin early in the mornings and late into the evenings, chatting and sharing laughter with fellow campers and staff. Her presence made camp brighter for everyone around her.

In honor of her memory, the Camp HERO Board will be dedicating a rocking chair in her name at camp this summer — a tribute to the place where she spent so many meaningful moments connecting with others. It will be a place where we can sit and remember all of the wonderful memories we have made with her at camp. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will always remain part of the Camp HERO community.
