Fiordland Equestrian Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Program (FETRP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed to retire thoroughbred's from the racing industry by rehabilitating and placing in new careers and homes. FE Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Program was formed to help retire thoroughbred's from the racing industry by rehabilitating and placing in new, high-quality homes.FETRP is has a focus on helping OTTBs who were pushed too hard to have a safe landing to recover from their injuries. Our plan is simple.
-Generous layup/turn out time for proper rest and healing.
-High-quality nutrition and supplement plans.
-Focus on creating good citizens through ground work.
-Thorough vet evaluations with gentle restarting plans
-Rehoming within quality homes with their new, suitable careers

During each residents initial intake, we work closely with our vet to do a thorough evaluation to create an effective baseline for our rehabilitation plan. For our friends with more sensitive needs and rehabilitating, we will take proper steps to get them on the right track!

Chat had his second ride today and we decided to let him explore the outdoor in the front of the barn. Once again proving to be a perfect gentleman.

In typical OTTB fashion he is much happier going to the left than the right. But did pick up both leads! We are working on toughening up his hooves with hoof hardener in hopes to keep him barefoot. But overall his feet are in great health!

After his eval ride I felt he was being such a good citizen I had beginner rider, Matthew, hop on for a walk around the arena. We are over the moon with this horse and excited to see how the rest of his evaluations go next week! Stay tuned 😊

Thank you to our partner, Voltaire Design USA & Canada for giving us the opportunity to restart our OTTBS in our Stuttgart saddle!

A cool video of one of newest intakes final races. CHATTALOT was well loved at the track with an impressive race record. He ran his final race on 12/14/2024 at Laurel Park ending his race career with $386,895 and 27 starts. After a long let down, he’s joined our program through partnership with Aftercare Charles Town - Equine Encore Performance at Charles Town to undergo riding evaluation and be placed in his new home.

Two new (and almost identical) faces have arrived to FETRP today!

Meet CHATTALOT and ELUSIVE NOTION who arrived in partnership with Aftercare Charles Town - Equine Encore Performance at Charles Town

Both horses have settled in quickly and have been absolute sweethearts.

More information coming soon!

It’s $5 Friday! 🤗

We are gearing up for fall vaccinations in October for 4 horses as well as our bi-yearly medical supply and medication restock! Veterinary expenses are our organizations most variable and costly expense… and also incredibly important.

What the appointment costs:
- Rabies vaccine - $30/horse x4
- Bute restock - $35/tube x5
- Banamine restock - $30/tube x5
- box of syringes - $25/box
- Acepromazine restock - $60/bottle x2
- Dormosedan Gel restock $40/tube x5
- Regumate restock - $250/bottle

Our total is estimated to be $1,040.00

💵 $5 may seem small, but 100 people giving $5 = $500 toward routine veterinary care!

If you can help, please donate today and challenge a friend to join you!

Help us keep our horses healthy. 🐴❤️ our horses thank you!
