Volunteers assist Millstone residents by responding to house fires, motor vehicle accidents and other emergencies. Membership is open to residents of Millstone Township or a surrounding community, ages 18 and above. (No prior experience is necessary and training will be provided.) In addition, residents between the ages of 14 to 17 can join the fire company’s Junior Firefighter Explorers program.

On Monday evening our department held a combined swearing in, promotional and an awards ceremony, recognizing multiple department members for their accomplishments.

Retired Captain Matt Wagner received a framed resolution from the Board of Fire Commissioners, recognizing his years of service.
Probationary Firefighter's Amadruto and Caretta were sworn in.
Captain Joseph Parento was sworn in, signifying his recent promotion.
Multiple members were recognized for incidents that occurred over the past year, which included:
An EMS Lifesaving award for a successful CPR save in August of 2025.
A Unit Citation for a motor vehicle accident in which multiple trauma patients and a vehicle fire was encountered, leading to rapid care and transport in December of 2025.
A Unit Citation for a childbirth in January of 2026.
A Unit Citation for a technical rescue that occurred in March of 2026 at the Millstone Middle School.
Multiple members received educational awards for obtaining their Bachelors Degrees.

Today department members traveled to the Middlesex County Fire Academy where they performed a series of live fire training evolutions. Members focused on hose line advancement, fire attack, search and ventilation. This was a great cap to the week for our two probationary members to work under pressure, demonstrating some of the knowledge they gained throughout the week.
Additionally, today marks Captain Alan South's 25 year anniversary with the department. Whether you started your fire service career this week or you have 25 years of service, the opportunity and importance to train remains a high priority.

This week, two new probationary firefighter/EMT's began their careers. Dylan Amadruto ( #231) comes to the department from Tinton Falls, where he is a member of the Wayside Fire Company.
Nick Caretta ( #232) comes to the department from Howell Township, where he was a member of the Ramtown Fire Company.

Both FF/EMT's Amadruto and Carretta are currently working through the first week of their probationary process, working on various fire service disciplines and training in a multitude of scenarios.

Both firefighter/EMT's were hired as a result of the recent Central Jersey Joint Hiring Process, which allowed applicants to apply for employment with up to six different fire departments.

We congratulate FF/EMT's Amadruto and Carretta on their appointment and welcome them to the Millstone community.

Once again our personnel remained busy throughout the weekend, handling multiple calls for service, conducting training and providing an event standby.

Yesterday afternoon, an obscure chain of event's sparked a large incident that required mutual aid resources. At 3:37 pm, Ambulance 3259 and Squad 32 responded to a medical emergency. At 3:44pm, a motor vehicle accident with a car vs pole, downed wires, and injuries was reported on Prodelin Way. Squad 32 and Ambulance 3258 responded. While responding, subsequent 911 calls indicated a brush fire approximately 1.5 miles away on Prodelin Way.

Squad 32 and Ambulance 3258 arrived at the motor vehicle accident, finding two injured subjects and live wires on top of the vehicle, entrapping those subjects. Mutual aid was requested from Freehold Emergency Medical Services for an additional ambulance, due to our primary ambulance crew already committed on the medical emergency.

The New Jersey State New Jersey Forest Fire Service and Monroe Township Fire District #2 responded to the brush fire on Prodelin Way. Units arrived at this scene, finding power lines down, as a result of the motor vehicle accident 1.5 miles away. This created a large brush fire, that also caused an adjacent residence to receive a back feed of electrical current, with a reported fire in the home. A first alarm was transmitted, brining additional mutual aid resources and off-duty Millstone firefighters. Once power was isolated to the home, the fire was extinguished. New Jersey Forest Fire Service personnel worked to contain the brush fire, utilizing heavy equipment to create fire breaks, and back firing operations of unburned fuels. This fire was contained at 2 acres in size, and required extensive overhaul of the area. Mutual aid resources were released and Millstone firefighters worked along the forestry units until approximately 9 pm. During this time frame, we handled 3 other calls for service. Due to the long term operation, both the home owner and our Ladies Auxiliary delivered food to the scene, which was greatly appreciated.

This morning our firefighters returned to Prodelin Way to continue overhaul and mop up operations of the impacted area, working alongside the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. We anticipate that we will be committed at this scene through out the morning.

This incident highlights the importance of mutual aid. Yesterday we were on the receiving end, with various agencies responding into Millstone to provide us with assistance. We routinely support the surrounding communities, whether through fire or EMS response.

Congratulations is in order to Probationary FF/EMT Joe Lando, on successfully completing Firefighter 1. FF/EMT Lando joined the department as a junior member and has continued to pursue the necessary training to become a full fledged member of the department.

During this 2026 EMS week, we would like to take a moment to recognize our Firefighter/EMT's who serve our community, each and every day.
Our members take tremendous pride in serving the community, providing exceptional care to our residents and visitors. We remain proud of their efforts and the first class service they provide. With over 40 certified EMT's within our ranks, the community is in good hands.

We are aware of smoke that is currently blanketing a portion of the town this evening. This is the result of a large woods fire on the Joint Base in Burlington County. There is no threat to the community. If you see a fire or smell smoke within your residence, do not hesitate to call 9-1-1.

This weekend, your Millstone Township Fire Department firefighters remained productive.

On Saturday and Sunday, several department members attended a 16-hour Structural Collapse Operations course. Focus areas included assessing and stabilizing compromised structures, along with various skill stations designed to remove trapped victims. This training enhances our capabilities and brings the total number of personnel trained to this level to over 20.

We teamed up with firefighters from all 3 Wall Township Fire Departments to bring the course to capacity.

Attending this training were the following department members:
Captain Alan South, FF/EMT's Mark Mains, Craig Lewis, Darrell Reilly, Franklin Doremus, Tyler Brockson, Jim LaBruno, Ryan Schwartz, Dennis Mark, Joe Boccanfuso, Nelson Melendez, and FF Scott Bice and James Asprocolas.

Personnel responded to several incidents throughout day which concluded with a brush fire, Saturday night between Millstone Road and Schoolhouse Road at approximately 10:15 p.m. Units arrived to find a woods fire on Monmouth County Park System property in the area of the Millstone Township Primary School. We worked alongside the New Jersey Forest Fire Service to contain the fire while they utilized heavy equipment to establish a fire break around the affected area and conduct backfiring operations. Approximately one acre burned as a result.

The Chief, Brush, Tanker, Engine, and Ambulance 3258 operated for approximately 2.5 hours before returning to service.

On Sunday, department members attended the Monmouth County Fire Marshal's Office and Monmouth County Fire Academy Memorial Service and Medal Day. During the ceremony, the department’s only line-of-duty death, Chief James Carbin, was recognized.

Department members, along with members of the Englishtown Fire Department and Monroe Township Fire District #2, received a unit citation for their efforts during a technical rescue at the Millstone Township Middle School in March.

Recognized were the following department members:
Chief Mike Maloney, Captain's Keith Buckalew, Nick Krauss, Joe Parento, FF/EMT's Mike Lippolis, Chris Schmidt, Tyler Brockson, Liam Moore, Nick Panza and Joe Boccanfuso.
