Purrfect Match Cat Rescue (aka Purrfect Match Cat Adoptions) is a 501C3 non-profit cat rescue group in the Memphis, TN area. A lifelong bond is created.

Purrfect Match Cat Rescue (aka Purrfect Match Cat Adoptions) is a 501C3 non-profit rescue group in the Memphis, TN area. We rescue cats and kittens from shelters as well as homeless community cats and provide them veterinary care, housing and socialization until they are ready for adoption. We do some local adoptions ourselves, but many of our cats and kittens go to rescue partners that we trust (in Nashville, Maine, NH and RI) to find their forever homes, since the cat over population problem is better managed in those areas and there are more resources available for kitties in need. We operate solely based on donations and your generosity helps us save precious feline lives!! Purrfect Match Cat Adoptions was founded by a cat lover from the Memphis area who found joy and happiness in every “Purrfect Match” she created while volunteering for other rescues. Cats were, are, and always will be a huge part of our lives. These animals need a chance to show how much value they can add to a person’s life. Their absolute loyalty and love truly impacts our lives everyday. Purrfect Match Cat Adoptions believes that once a person finds that “Purrfect Match” with that purrfect cat, the chemistry created makes both the person and the animal more complete. There is nothing more fulfilling than when you see another cat ready and eager to start a new chapter of its life with a loving and caring person! Her story:

Pookie was a good samaritan surrender to the Animal Emergency Center in Memphis after she was found all alone and in distress. Purrfect Match was asked to take her and thanks to excellent care from foster moms Lisa and Peggy and our vet, her glow-up is complete! It's always a bittersweet moment, but she is ready to leave us and go find her home. We would be so grateful for help getting her bills and transport expense paid so she can go find her family in New England!

Are you ready for THE BEST adoption update?! 🥹💕

Emily’s path to a happy ending was a long road, but the message we received last night from her new mom, Emma, makes every single bit of the work and worry beyond worth it!

Once the cause of her frail condition was identified as painful dental disease and corrective surgery was completed (a massive THANK YOU to everyone who donated to help cover this medical bill!), it took several months for her to heal and reach a healthy weight. Once she was healthy, happy, and thriving, we were absolutely thrilled when she was accepted for adoption by our wonderful partners at HART of Maine. We knew they would give her top-notch care and make sure she landed in the absolute perfect home... and she it the absolute jackpot!!

Emily is now the only cat with Emma and her partner, which is a total dream come true for her. Emma sent us the SWEETEST message alongside the precious photos and videos below showing just how loved Ms. Emily is already:

"About one week ago, I adopted the beautiful and sweet Emily (aka Miss Taken) who we now call Ruby! On the day we adopted her I was given all her paperwork as well as your wonderful letter that made me cry. She is such an amazing cat. My boyfriend and I absolutely adore her! The part of your letter where you said she would take off her pearls and get kitten-like zoomies is completely accurate!! She settled into our home beautifully, which we are so proud and thankful for. This little lady is beyond perfect, we are so lucky to have her in our lives!"

We are taking a moment to soak up all these wonderful feels. Moments like this remind us why we do what we do! We are endlessly grateful to our incredible community whose donations, shares, and support make these happy-ever-afters possible.

Her story:

The Mix-Up of a Lifetime! Sometimes, the best things in life happen by accident. When we went to the Tipton Shelter to pick up a cat, a little mix-up occurred. We were handed a tiny, frail girl instead of the cat we were expecting. We named her "Miss Taken" because of the error—but as we got to know her, she let us know she’s far more refined than that. She’s officially Emily. 🌸

Emily came to us in heartbreaking condition. Weighing less than 5 lbs with sunken eyes and a hollow frame, she didn't want to eat. We were terrified for her. It took multiple vet visits across two different clinics to solve the mystery of her anorexia.

Today, we finally got the answer: Resorptive lesions. 🦷
Essentially, Emily’s own body was dissolving her teeth from the inside out. Every bite of food was a bolt of lightning-sharp pain. No wonder the poor girl didn't want to eat!

The Turning Point Today ~ Dr. McWatters performed an intensive dental surgery with full X-rays to identify and remove those painful teeth and give Emily her life back. The prognosis? Excellent. Now that the source of her pain is gone, we expect this 5-year-old beauty to finally start putting on the pounds and enjoying her meals!

Emily has a long, happy life ahead of her, but her "rebuild" came with a significant price tag. Her specialized dental surgery and diagnostics today cost $1,200.

Being "Miss Taken" was the luckiest thing that ever happened to her, because it brought her to us—and now, we’re asking you to help us clear the path for her future.

Every dollar helps this "happy accident" become a healthy, thriving cat. Thank you for being part of Emily's village!

🐾❤️ Tuggles is ADOPTED!!! 🏡💕

Another homeless Memphis kitten is happily tucked in with a mom in New Hampshire who is head over heels for him! Her smile on his adoption day says it all! Tuggles is going to have the kind of life we wish for all kitties—enjoying the pampered indoor life with a doting human. 🐱💕

His story:

Tuggles’ mother, Opal, was a homeless cat living on the streets of Memphis when that innate motherly wisdom kicked in. Knowing she needed a safe place to give birth, Opal took matters into her own paws—she marched right into a kind stranger's home through an open door! While the homeowner couldn't take on a pregnant cat, she reached out to Purrfect Match for help, and the rest is history. Opal gave birth to her beautiful litter of mostly black kittens in the absolute comfort and safety of her foster home with Bonita. Because Tuggles and his siblings have been showered with love from the exact moment they were born, they have grown into incredibly happy, social, and well-adjusted kittens. Now, they are ready for the ultimate next step: finding their forever families! Before Tuggles can head off to his forever home, we need to get him fully vetted. We would be incredibly grateful for any donations to help cover his veterinary care and get this sweet boy officially ready for adoption!

🐾 OPALINE UPDATE & WAYS TO HELP 🐾

We haven’t posted an update on Opaline in a while because, to be completely transparent, it has been a tough road with many days where the news felt discouraging.

When Opaline was rescued, she was suffering from a severe case of stomatitis. About two months ago, she underwent a full mouth extraction with Dr. Galloway, a board-certified small animal dentist and Memphis-area stomatitis specialist. While this procedure is curative for most cats, a small percentage experience persistent pain and inflammation afterward—these cases are known as refractory stomatitis. Opaline happens to be one of those cases.

She will have periods where she does well, followed by sudden flare-ups of severe mouth pain and loss of appetite. Last week, after another serious setback, we were heartbroken and honestly preparing ourselves to discuss a quality-of-life decision. However, Dr. Galloway was not ready to give up on her! Beyond his dedication, we are deeply grateful that he has been donating his time for all her post-procedure follow-ups.

During her recent hospital stay, Dr. Galloway placed her under anesthesia for a thorough evaluation. He discovered a small area of painful exposed bone from her previous extractions and was able to resuture it. Reassuringly, the majority of her swelling is concentrated under her tongue and has not extended down into her esophagus.

Additionally, tissue biopsy results from her initial surgery revealed an allergic component to her condition (eosinophilic stomatitis). To address this, she has been transitioned to a strictly managed single protein source diet (rabbit).

Opaline has been back home with her foster mom, Kimber, for four days now, and Kimber reports this is the best Opaline has looked and felt since the day she was rescued! She is eating heartily, showing no signs of pain, and displaying a lively, playful energy we haven't seen before.

We are praying that Opaline is finally turning the corner and reaching stability. We would love and appreciate all the prayers, positive thoughts, and good vibes you can send her way!

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH SKYWALKER! 🌟✨

Skywalker arrived at Memphis Animal Services as a tiny, helpless bottle-baby orphan, and was cared for and hand-raised from just weeks old. But despite all the extra love and human interaction, Skywalker has always been a naturally shy boy—it’s just who he is!

Whenever our quieter, timid kitties pack their bags and head North, we always hold our breath a little longer. We worry that the journey might set back their socialization, or that they’ll get overlooked by potential adopters who don’t know just how special the bond can be with a cat whose trust you must earn.

Well......Skywalker’s adoption showed us once again that the perfect home is out there for every single kitty—and Stephanie at Mitchell Animal Hospital Adoptions has an incredible gift for making those magical matches happen! 💖

Seeing the precious photos of Skywalker in his new home in New Hampshire takes all those worries away and completely fills our hearts. He connected with his new mom almost instantly, and it’s been nothing but starry-eyed bliss ever since! 🌌🐾

🌼 DANDELION IS ADOPTED! 🌼

Dandelion’s vibrant, larger-than-life personality will be remembered at MeowHouse for a very long time, but we are beyond thrilled to share that she has officially found her forever home! 🏡✨

Dandelion is undeniably a "people cat" through and through—she completely thrives on human companionship and being the center of your universe. While she tolerated her feline roommates at MeowHouse, her fabulous "alpha-cat" energy made it clear that she would truly blossom as an only cat.

Our wonderful adoption partner, HART of Maine, made that dream come true! 🚚💨

She is now the reigning queen of her very own happy home in Maine, where she enthusiastically oversees every single household project! There is no doubt her new family will never have a dull moment with her around, and even less doubt that she will be deeply loved for her fun, energetic spark. 👑💛

We are so glad she found her way to MeowHouse. She is an absolute hoot — fun, spirited, mischievous, and precocious. There is truly never a dull moment when Dandelion is around!
While we’ve loved every second of her company, Dandelion is ready for her next big chapter. She has been accepted into the adoption program at HART of Maine, giving her an amazing opportunity to find her forever family!

Her life was off to a precarious start when she arrived at Memphis Animal Services as a tiny, vulnerable bottle baby needing round-the-clock care. In the rescue world, stories like hers can turn in an instant, but a whole community stepped up to rewrite her future. From the compassionate hands that bottle-fed her through those crucial early weeks to her dedicated PM foster mom Lisa whose care got her healthy and thriving, every single person involved played a vital role.

Once Hattie was fully vetted (THANK YOU to all of you who helped with this!!) and ready to take on the world, the wonderful adoption coordinator at Mitchell Animal Hospital stepped in to find her perfect match. Today, Hattie is living the absolute sweetest life in New Hampshire! She has taken her rightful place as the head of her new household, supervising daily operations and bringing plenty of playful kitten energy to her forever mom.

We are so deeply thankful for everyone in our rescue circle who helped turn this little orphan's story into a bright, beautiful new chapter! 🐾✨

She was incredibly lucky that an employee there stepped up to save her life by fostering and bottle-feeding. Once Hattie was finally old enough to eat on her own, Purrfect Match was asked to take her and her two siblings into our program. Thanks to the amazing foster mom Lisa, who didn't hesitate to open her heart and home to the trio, we were able to say a resounding YES! Today, Hattie is an exuberant, happy, and thriving young cat. She is completely full of life, and she is officially ready for her next big step: getting vetted so she can head northeast to find her forever family! 🚐💨 To get Hattie fully ready to enrich the life of some lucky adoptive family, we need to cover her veterinary care, including spay surgery, vaccinations, and transport prep.
