Saturday evening is the deadline for this years Patriots Pen and Voice of Democracy.

This years prompt is “What has a veteran taught you about America?”

Essays can be turned in at the post or submitted online. For the voice of democracy, the submission must also include the student reading their essay on a recording, and a head shot of the student.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.

As a reminder, our post offers $300 for first place, $200 for second place, and $100 for third place, with first place in both contests moving up to the district to be entered in the national contest.

What a night at OP Laugh it Off: All-Veterans Comedy Show!

Big thanks to the acts that traveled in to perform tonight, and to all of our guests who came out to support the event. Both nights combined raised about $2300 to split between IW Memphis, Collierville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5066, and our post!

We look forward to hosting more events like this in the future!

OP Laugh it Off: All-Veterans Comedy Show is coming to the VFW tomorrow night! While dinner tickets are sold out, $20 general admission tickets are still available. Show starts at 7pm tomorrow in the Medal of Honor Ballroom!

Unfortunately, we regret to announce that our Smoked Butts Fundraiser scheduled for Saturday, October 25, 2026, has been CANCELLED.

Due to not reaching the minimum number of orders needed to fire up the smoker, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this event.

We’ve talked about it for a month. Now it’s almost time.

Operation Laugh It Off: Battle Scars to Punchlines comes to VFW Post 7175 in Millington this Saturday, October 24.

Veteran comedians from across the country will take the stage for a night built around brotherhood, healing, and laughs.

If you’ve been saying you need to get out more, reconnect with some veterans, or just have a damn good time for a night — here’s your excuse.
