They say that you can't ever go back. I'm here to tell you that "they" are wrong. My wonderful husband, my amazing oldest daughter and I traveled to Montana back to my family ranch. For both my husband and daughter, it was a brand new adventure filled with amazing sights and alot of firsts. For me, it was a trip of healing, saying goodbye and saying hello. The broken person that left there so long ago wasn't the person that arrived there 30 years later. I came to say goodbye to the incredible family members I'd lost over the years. Visit where they were laid to rest and honor them. My incredible cousin Levi and amazing Aunt Anna created and built the family cemetery at the ranch. They truly went above and beyond. Seeing the ranch and all that they have done to keep the ranch running and thriving healed parts of my heart that I didn't even know were broken. I know without a shadow of a doubt that the ranch my Grandfather Kenny worked so hard to build is in wonderful hands and will be for generations thanks to Uncle Randy, Aunt Anna, cousin Levi and his beautiful, smart wife Stephanie. Can't believe I've got such an amazing lady for a bonus cousin♥️Levi and Steph's amazing sons are country boys through and through. They have raised them to be fine young men, something that gets harder and harder to do these days. The ranch is in good hands. All the blood sweat and tears I poured into that land will not have been in vain. All worry and sadness at having to say goodbye to the ranch has lifted. Along with this blessing, I got to say hello again to some people who are dear and very special to me. Hug new family members I quickly feel in love with. Each hug healed a part of me that I didn't even know was broken. I know I won't stay gone as long and plan to go home again in the near future. I've come back to our little ranch with a renewed spirit that is full purpose and new goals. I'd like to sincerely thank my bonus daughter Lindsay Wilson and good friend Lindsey Jones for taking excellent care of our ranch while we were gone. I couldn't have made this journey with you guys. For those of you who have made it to the end of this long post, I offer this piece of advice: take the time to find your way back home again. It's worth it ♥️

Some of our horses will be participating in the playday at Sentimental Journey Ranch tomorrow along with some of our volunteers. Leroy, Banner, and Sophie are all bathed, brushed out and are ready to roll! Of course our favorite ranch hand, Lindsay and her spicy mustang mare Faith, will be there too! It's been a wonderful few weeks of practice. Love to see the riders and horses growing and bonding. Absolutely LOVE hearing the arena filled with laughter and encouraging banter. Tomorrow is going to be a blast!!

This monster of a fire is making it's way toward us. It's still about 20-25 miles away, but with the winds we get here that distance can close quickly. We are praying that they get this under control quickly. Before it reaches the town of Doyle. If it gets to Doyle, we will start evaluating animals. We do have a plan but we will need some help hauling. If you would like to help haul horses in the case of an evacuation, please send us a private message with your phone number and size of your trailer. We are updating our emergency contact list. We are still here to help anyone in need. If you are in the path of this fire, don't wait to get your animals safe! Have a plan and get out. If anyone is needing a safe place to evacuate to, you can contact us or Vickie Chandler with Cowboy 911: 530-736-3433. The Lassen Fair ground is open and ready to help. Call Vickie and she'll get you situated at the Fair Grounds. Thank you! Stay safe everyone!

***On A Happy Note! A (Harry) Houdini Update***
Little Houdini is doing much better today after getting his eye lid stitched up. He's not a big fan of his new fly mask that arrived this afternoon. 🤣 He's rethinking this whole being tame thing if mom is going to dress him up funny. 🤣 I think he looks adorable♥️

Been a long afternoon/evening but we have 9 equine, chickens, guineas and 2 new friends with their dogs and cats safely evacuate and staying with us at the ranch. Made quite a few new friends along the way. We are very blessed to be able to open our ranch to people when they need us and be a part of such an incredible horse community. Please keep all the people and animals effected by these horrible fires in your prayers. Say extra prayers for the brave fire fighters our there risking their lives. If you'd like to donate to help us keep helping others, you can donate on our website or the links below.
