A baseball journey can take you places you never expected.

For PF Flyers 13U player Brian Jr., his journey has included learning to navigate Type 1 diabetes while continuing to pursue the game he loves. Meeting someone who understands that journey firsthand made this moment even more special.

When PF Flyers 13U player Brian Westbrook Jr. was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in November, his family and coaches looked for athletes who have successfully navigated baseball despite the challenges of the disease. That search led them to San Diego Padres closer Mason Miller.

Some moments are bigger than baseball.

In November, Brian Westbrook Jr. was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Rather than letting that change his dreams, Brian has continued to work, compete, and chase his goal of playing baseball at the highest level.

Tonight, he had the opportunity to meet Mason Miller, an athlete who also lives with Type 1 diabetes. Mason has been a source of encouragement and advice for Brian, and tonight he took time before the game to meet with him and share some words of inspiration. Brian is apart of our 2032 PF Flyers 13U team.

Keep chasing the dream, Brian! 🧡💙⚾️

Congratulations to Ben Christman, Liam Cunningham, Max DeFranco, Eli Questa, Gavin Rutherford, Isaac Sukup, and Jordan Whitney on earning top rankings across multiple performance categories. The work is showing!

Tonight was about more than just baseball.

Our PF Flyers’ athletes and families had the opportunity to spend time with Coach Brian Wiefering at his facility (WieFit Nutrition, Personal Training, and Group Fitness) and learn about the importance of nutrition, fueling your body, recovery, and the habits that help athletes reach their potential.

A huge thank you to Brian for opening his doors, sharing his knowledge, and investing his time in our athletes and families. These are the conversations and experiences that can make a lasting difference in a young athlete’s journey.
