We had 15 applicants and tough decisions. Initially we were only awarding three candidates, but chose to approve an additional scholarship as funding allowed. We wish all of the best to our future defenders of nature.

Tomorrow!!! Be sure to come for our Second Sunday Bird Walks! 8 am - 11:30 am. It is Free. This starts an hour earlier as it is migration time. Don’t make it a “solitary” time and bring a few friends.

Join a few knowledgeable council members who know what certain birds look like that live or pass by Marshy Point. They also have cosponsored walks with the nature center staff and Baltimore Bird Club.

Join them every Second Sunday year round. Walks typically last until around 11:30 am and are free as well as open to everyone! Meet on the back deck of the nature center. Stay as long as you like. You can sign up on CivicRec or just show up and they will take care of it.

Our council Vice President (and Research Chair) enjoys listening and learning about the surrounding community history. Feel free to reach out to us with stories and photos of the Chase area as we hope to save and document what we can for future generations. Here is a post from our VP’s page on a small and hidden cemetery located off Earls Road.

Thank you all for making this another amazing Spring Festival! The Marshy Point Nature Center Council would like to especially thank the Rec and Park’s staff for the hard work they do to plan and hold the festivals each year. We also want to recognize the wonderful volunteers who support the festivals and many of the projects with their behind the scenes set up and additional expertise they bring along with them. Thank you to our vendors who add variety and unique foods and products for the community to enjoy. We also thank everyone who attended or supported us at heart.

Not everyone can make it to the festival, but we appreciate those spreading the word. Lastly, we must recognize the Animals who live and are constantly viewed and committed to educating park patrons. Without Frankie, the duck and her friends, we wouldn’t have the personalities that enrich our lives and feel like extended family.

Photos from end of the day.
