Three years ago today, parents in southern Israel hid their children in safe rooms while Hamas terrorists went house to house. Young people who went to a festival to dance never came home. For those families, the grief hasn’t faded.

Since that day, antisemitism has gone mainstream. It doesn’t belong to one party, and the fight against it shouldn’t either. I’ve called it out on the right and on my own side of the aisle, and I won’t stop now.

South Florida’s Jewish community deserves someone in Congress who won’t look the other way when it’s politically inconvenient. Never again has to mean something.

“In passing the resolution, the Senate resolved to honor and mourn the victims; express condolences to the victims' families; condemn Hamas and its affiliates; commend the US government for its role in freeing some of the hostages; urge the government to continue working to free US citizens held hostage across the world; and supports continued engagement by the US government with October 7 victims and their families.”

The resolution, S.Res.938, lists out 40 of the 46 Americans killed on October 7, as well as the seven hostages who were successfully freed alive from Hamas captivity.

What happened at Sandy Hook was one of the most horrific days this country has ever lived through. Newtown and Parkland are bound together by a grief no community should ever have to carry, members of a club no one ever asks to join.
