Community outreach leads to community-driven results.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our design workshop last month. Thank you for bringing your energy, creativity, and local expertise Hearing directly from Allapattah small business owners, residents, District 1 staff, and local artists is exactly how we make sure this affordable housing development truly serves the community.

Your voice is vital, and much appreciated. And a special thank you to Commissioner Gabela for sending District 1 staff, and for enduring the heat right alongside us. Together we can continue to preserve our communities while assuring adequate housing for our long-time residents.

Hurricane season is here, and Allapattah small businesses showed up to get ready. Last week we hosted Prepárate para la Temporada de Huracanes, a hands-on workshop helping local entrepreneurs protect their business before the next storm.

With Barbara Martinez-Guerrero of Dream in Green, the City of Miami, and Miami-Dade County, we covered real preparedness: building an emergency plan, keeping operations running through a disruption, and simple energy, water, and waste changes that cut costs and build resilience. Registered participants went home with free emergency kits.

One short closure can cost a small business its income, inventory, and stability. Preparation is protection.

Missed this one? Follow along so you don't miss the next workshop.

City of Miami in the last Commission meeting, Allapattah CDC received a generous allocation of $200,000 to support our ongoing programs for small businesses, including our small business grants.
To date, Allapattah CDC has worked with more than 600 small businesses, providing not only technical assistance and training, but access to the capital they need to grow. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Commissioner Miguel Angel Gabela and his team for believing in us and trusting us to continue this work.
Our mission is to preserve the Allapattah community we love so deeply, and this is just one of the many ways we are working to make sure the people and businesses of this neighborhood are here to stay.

Happy 4th of July from The Allapattah Collaborative CDC (ACDC) 🇺🇸

Today, Allapattah steps onto the national stage. This year America turns 250, and our community's story is woven right into it.

Many Voices, One Nation: En Nuestras Palabras is officially open at the Coral Gables Museum. Developed with the Smithsonian Institution and Florida Humanities. Built from the stories of our community. Told in our own words.

Swipe through a few moments from our past: the people, the streets, and the everyday life that built Allapattah. Those who were here first. Those who came seeking new beginnings. Out of many, one.

Come see it. Bring your family. Share your story.

Our heritage matters because it gives us a sense of identity, belonging, and purpose. It connects us to the people, traditions, and experiences that shaped who we are. At ACDC we are constantly working to make sure we preserve those stories and the people and places that connect us. And now there's national recognition to prove it. Allapattah CDC has received the Nuestra Herencia Award from Latinos in Heritage Conservation, and we are the only organization in Florida selected this cycle.

Chosen from 159 applications, this national grant supports the preservation of our heritage. For us, it strengthens the very foundation of our work: the team and the long-term resources we need to protect Little Santo Domingo, Miami's only historically Dominican neighborhood.

Preservation starts with strong organizations rooted in their communities. We're proud to be one of them.
----------------------------
