Tuesday nights meeting will conclude with a workshop led by Karen Beasley 5 pm.
Description of workshop.
What is a Bougie Blinged-up Box?
This is a bit of an exaggeration since “bougie” and “blinged-up” basically mean the same thing and are totally opposite in style to minimalist.
Boujee" or "bougie" are slang terms that generally mean fancy, luxurious, or high-class, based on the French word ‘bourgeoise’ or high class. They can also have a slightly negative connotation, implying pretentiousness or a desire to appear more wealthy than one actually is. The words are often used to describe things, people, or lifestyles that are expensive, showy, or overly focused on wealth and status.
We will transform a cardboard jewelry box or a wooden cigar box into an ”objet d’art”. I will supply a variety of both these items to use as our canvasses as well as material to bling them up. We will use acrylic paint, acrylic medium, glue, Modge Podge, paper, photos, tissue, table napkins, maps, fabric, crests, lace, fancy ribbons, sequins, stencils - all kinds of decor for your box.
Below, you will see a former Altoids tin which is now a traveling jewelry box and a bottle which once contained amaretto is now a candle holder with a desert motif.
