The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) is a service organization founded on July 26, 1922 in Atlanta, Georgia. AHEPA was founded in response to the evils of bigotry spearheaded by the K*K and to assist Greek immigrants assimilate into American society. AHEPA joined with B’nai B’rith and the NAACP to combat discrimination.

AHEPA District 12 would like to announce the recipients of the AHEPAN of the Year and Prometheus Award.

The district issues an AHEPAN of the Year which recognizes the brother in the district that did the most to advance the mission of the AHEPA over a 12 month period.

The other District award unique to District 12 is the Prometheus award which recognizes the brother who did the most over a 10 year period to advance the mission of the AHEPA.

Congratulations Tom and Nick. Well deserving brothers who not only labor hard for the Order of AHEPA in Merrillville, Indiana but are also crucial in supporting the residents of the 6 Merrillville AHEPA Housing apartment complexes.

This past weekend at the Midwest Regional convention, the AHEPA district 12 delegates met and discussed the business of AHEPA in the state of Indiana. In addition, offices at the district were elected for the 2026-2027 year. Congratulations to all the elected officers.

Here is logistical information for the Chicago Greek Independence Day parade which will be Sunday April 19th in Chicago Greektown.

The parade route this year STARTS at the intersection of MADISON and HALSTED and will complete at Harrison and Halsted.

The parade will start at 2:30PM. We recommend you arrive at least 1 hour prior to start.

Parking will be available at UIC, located at 760 W. Taylor St.

AHEPA is float #9. There are 58 total floats and marching groups so AHEPA will be towards the front of the lineup.

The entire AHEPA Family (AHEPA, DOP, SOP, MOA) are invited to ride the float or march alongside.
