WOW! For those who missed it....

Last night we had our 90th Annual Meeting, graciously hosted by Mount Zion Temple.

Here's the recap of our monumental meeting⤵️

→ St. Paul Jewish Federation received the largest endowed gift from living donors 🎁 in Federation history: $2.6M from Don & Rhoda Mains to strengthen Jewish life for generations. Thank you, Mains family, we are honored to have you in this community. 🙏

→ We announced a defining new partnership with Talmud Torah St. Paul 🏫 to expand and sustain Jewish education through a permanent endowment. Out of this will come the Talmud Torah St. Paul Endowment Fund, which will be under the guidance of our new Chief Officer for Jewish Community Education Strategy & Impact, Ruth Olkon! 📚📖✡️

→ The Board of Directors announced the slates for Board Members and Officers for 2026 🆕. We said a heartfelt "THANK YOU" to Tom Frishberg for his two years of service - Tom, we could not have done this without you. We also said "WELCOME" to our rising Board President, Jennifer Kaplan, who will begin her tenure after our next Board Meeting. The talent and dedication these volunteers bring to our organization is unmatched. 💪🏻

What do the polio vaccine 💉, Barbie 💅, and the website you're on right now🧑‍💻, have in common? They were all created by Jewish-Americans, of course!

This month is Jewish American Heritage Month. From Brooklyn, to LA, to right here in St. Paul, our diverse community of scientists 🧬, artists 🎨, activists ⚖️, writers ✍️, and neighbors 🏡, are having Shabbat dinner 🕯️ and lighting fireworks on the Fourth of July 🎆!

We're Jewish ✡️. We're American 🇺🇸. We're Proud 🥹.

Happy Jewish American Heritage Month from the St. Paul Jewish Federation! Be sure to check our some local Jewish-American history at the Nathan and Theresa Berman Upper Midwest Jewish Archives or the Jewish Historical Society of the Upper Midwest.

Mazal Tov to our newest E. David Fischman Scholarship recipients!

The E. David Fischman Scholarship continues to invest in Israel’s future — providing full tuition for exceptional Israeli graduate students who will return home to lead in public life.

This year’s scholars carry forward that legacy:

Merav Shwartz will pursue an LL.M. at NYU, bringing her background in law, public policy, and advocacy to help bridge economic gaps across Israeli society.

Doron Shapir will attend Harvard’s MPA program, building on his experience in diplomacy and government to strengthen international and civic leadership.

This year’s recipients were selected by a dedicated committee including Board President Tom Frishberg, Rabbi Rachel Rubenstein, Rabbi Tamar Grimm, Elizabeth Lamin, Holly Brod Farber, Yaniv Rivlin, and Chair Micky Minsberg — a group deeply committed to identifying and supporting Israel’s next generation of leaders.

St. Paul Jewish Federation is dedicated to ensuring a safe and thriving Jewish future in St. Paul & The East Metro, Israel, and around the world.

A legacy of resilience — and a future in motion. 🤓🇮🇱

Our Shaliach, Tal C., has had a huge impact on the older adults living at Sholom since his arrival this past August. He was featured on the Sholom Spotlight blog, and it's safe to say we're pretty darn proud of him!

The St. Paul Shlichut program has been bringing exceptional young Israelis to our community for almost two decades. Our shlichim (emissaries) offer a personal, authentic bridge to Israeli society. They don’t represent a political viewpoint—they represent people, stories, and the everyday realities of life in Israel.

On May 14, 1948, the voice of David Ben-Gurion rang out over the radio, heard around the world, announcing the re-establishment of a Jewish homeland. From the ashes of the The Holocaust, and through the fight to be masters of our own fate, the State of Israel was born.

On Yom Ha'Atzmaut, we celebrate Israeli independence. The hope of two thousand years—to return to Eretz Yisrael—was realized 78 years ago on this day, 5 Iyar.

The St. Paul Jewish Federation is honored to support our brothers and sisters in the Jewish State. We must nurture this connection, now and always, so future generations understand how vital it is to keep Israel alive and free.

Yom Ha'Atzmaut Sameach.
