Mendon-Upton Cub Scouts Pack 1

Our pack had so much fun celebrating the Centennial Camporee for Mendon Scouts BSA Troop 1 this weekend. To celebrate, the Troop and Cubs spent two nights camping, practiced scout skills, had a Massachusetts State Police helicopter flyover, learned about scouting history in town, and ended with large bonfire ceremony!

Some activities they did
- Practiced fire building(small cooking fires) 🔥
- Cooked eggs and muffins inside orange peels on the fire 🍳🍊
- STEM activity was 10ft egg drop using only natural materials 🥚🪜
- Scout games from 100 years ago
- First aid injured hiker carries⛑️
- Scouts ages 5- 17 worked together to cook breakfast for everyone 🥞🥓
- Scouts not only did the dishes but had fun doing it!
-Night hike with no lights at all 🌌
- much more fun in-between

Special thanks to Mendon Fire Department for building a safe Bonfire for us! Not sure who enjoyed it more, the kids or adults. 🚒🔥

First Pack meeting for the 26-27 scouting year! Scouts learned basic campfire safety, did a camping gear scavenger hunt, and had special geusts from Mendon Scouts BSA Troop 1 to teach them about how they do their own cooking on campouts. And ofcourse many marshmallows were devoured.

Dishwashing at home... most kids want nothing to do with it. Dishwashing with Cub Scouts.... kids argue over who gets to help next. - Definitely something parents don't expect to see. One of the many awesome side effects of being in the woods!

Thinking of joining the fun, but want more info. Come by our Cub Scout Info Night this Thursday from 6-7:30 at the Mendon town park pavilion.
