Today is National Food Bank Day, and all of us at Island Harvest want to give a heartfelt shout-out to our fellow food bankers here on Long Island and across the country. 🧡

Hundreds of food banks work every day to make sure our nation’s most vulnerable children, families, seniors, and veterans have access to the food they need.

It’s not always easy. But it’s always good.

To our fellow food bankers: thank you for showing up, doing the work, and playing your part. Together, we can—and do—make a difference. 🧡

Welcome, Class of Fall 2026! 🎉

This incredible group of students is embarking on a 10-week workforce skills training program designed to get them certified and ready for a career in warehousing.

And the results speak for themselves: 77% of past graduates have secured full-time employment, earning an average of $20/hour, well above minimum wage.

Programs like this address the root causes of food insecurity by helping people build the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to achieve long-term stability.

This , your gift supports innovative programs like these. And thanks to a dollar-for-dollar match, your gift will have double the impact.

Give today and play your part in helping end hunger on Long Island. 🧡

🥚 69,000 cartons. 831,600 eggs…but who’s counting?

We are! Because we’re so happy to receive and distribute dozens and dozens(!) of eggs to our neighbors in need as part of a settlement following a bipartisan, multistate investigation into the manipulation of egg prices.

Food banks across New York will receive nearly 5 million eggs, with Island Harvest chosen to distribute Long Island’s portion through food pantries across Nassau and Suffolk and our emergency feeding programs.

“Eggs are a highly nutritious, versatile, and wholesome food item that is frequently requested by the people we serve,” said Island Harvest CEO Randi Shubin Dresner. “We are grateful to Letitia James for negotiating this settlement in such a thoughtful way and helping ensure these nutritious foods reach Long Island families who need them.”

The settlement followed an investigation that found three major egg suppliers coordinated bidding strategies to influence and manipulate egg prices.

This settlement is turning accountability into something tangible: nutritious food on the tables of Long Island families.

We had the BEST time at SUSA’s Block Party, and we’re overwhelmed by the Academy’s incredible generosity! ⚽🧡

SUSA Cares Foundation gave $25,000 to help end hunger on Long Island—that’s 50,000 meals! 🙌 And its awesome players collected over 1,000 pounds of food to help our neighbors in need.

Thank you, SUSA academy, for showing your young players what it means to give back to their community and for giving them the opportunity to make a real difference, both on and off the field.

We’re so grateful for your generosity and support! 🧡⚽

Rep. Nick LaLota (NY-1 )joined us at our weekly Operation: HOPE veterans food distribution at the Northport VA, helping ensure that the hundreds of veterans who turned out received the nutritious food they need.

We’re grateful that Congressman Nick LaLota , a Navy veteran himself, took the time to see firsthand the need that exists for veterans right here on Long Island and for his helping hand in supporting those who served our country.
